What Do You Want for Christmas?

What things, material or otherwise, would you like for Christmas?

Of course we all want health for our families, world peace, and things like that... but what "special requests" do you have?

I'd like a sewing machine.

And a sense of peace about the choices I've made in my life. OR a clear indication that I need to make a change...

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Oh, and I'd really love for someone to teach me the basics of crocheting and knitting as a Christmas gift!!!

I would like a MAC gift certificate.
New bedding set.
Vanity w/ chair.
Family vacation to somewhere new and fun!

Last year Christmas was a horrible time for me and my boyfriend. I would skip all the presents just to have it feel like Christmas this year. =)

Peace in the family....with a large family, it seems there is always one person who is at odds with someone else. "Can't we all just get along"?

I want a full-day spa experience at my favorite place that includes a facial, salt scrub and glow, aromatherapy wrap, swedish massage, manicure/pedicure lunch, and extra time to get in a swim and some sessions in the eucalyptus steam room.

I want the same thing every year and have gotten it twice but my husband always says it is "lame" for him to get me the same thing every year. I tell him, hey - at least it's easy and it's what I want!

Donations to the house fund! This has become a standard request when my grown children ask. Such Christmas presents have helped finance over a dozen new interior doors and accompanying hardware in our fifty-year-old house, refurbishing of the exterior doors (and new hardware), and crown moulding in several of the rooms.

I have all the books, jewelry, and perfume I need, and my taste in shoes is too expensive! So this works, and then I have to send everybody pictures of the work that was done (hopefully within the year).

Oh, and a little chocolate is always welcome, too.

I have some non-material "special requests," too, but God already knows what they are.

I usually ask for things like make-up, facial soap. I know it sounds crazy, but they're nicer brands (MAC, Kiehl's) that I usually won't spend the money on myself. So, if I ask for them as gifts, I don't feel as guilty.

Honestly, my best gift is just spending time with my husband and the kids. As a working Mom, my time is limited.

Time. I am a single, working mother so never have enough of it!

I like L.'s wish for a sense of peace about the choices we've made. I ALWAYS second guess myself to the point of not enjoying some of the decisions I've made for fear of them being wrong.

I'm with Dana W! I love expensive cosmetics and feel less guilty getting them as gifts from hubby or my parents.

I also want a violin and lessons to go with it! :)

If I could have ANYTHING I wanted, it would be a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. I would love that for my kiddos and my husband.

All of my family lives out of Country, so I would love, love, love it if some of them could come and visit. Some of them have never been to visit and others came about 15 years ago when my parents passed away. It would be nice to have them see where we live and experience our children in their own environment. It would make for a really special Christmas.

I'd love a faux leather jacket, but because things are so tight I hope my kiddos get something special and I'm asking parents and grandparents for cash so we can keep our oil tank filled so we have heat!! This is the first year my children will not be doing the angel tree (we always shop for less fortunate kids, but we can't afford to this year), so I'm asking family to help with that as well.

But you've got me thinking, so I'm going to go post this question... what will your new years resolution be?? ;)

I really want my mothers ring since we have decided that two kids is enough, but the downside to that is I want to pick it out myself since my husband and I have totally different taste in jewelery. I would like a new bottle of perfume, the ps3 move and to be out of debt.

I want a "work box"
It's a big desk that will hold all my scrap booking stuff and close up neatly when I am done.
It is expensive! So we have already been saving for it and it will be my Christmas/January b-day present! But I am so excited!

Also, this will be our first Christmas so far away from family. It will be a wonderful visit if my mom and brothers get to come spend it with us!

My husband and I stopped exchanging gifts several years ago b/c it seemed like the stress of "buying things" was overshadowing the spirit of the season. What we do now is play "hooky" from work for a day in November and take the day to shop for our son and nieces. We go out for a fancy lunch and just enjoy picking things out for the kids. It's fun, gets us in the spirit and we sneak in a date at the same time!

My siblings and I also stopped exchanging and focus entirely on the kids. However, my parents still buy each family one "big gift".... we're asking for a new indoor grill/griddle/panini press this year!

I would love to have a nice aquarium and stand for our Beta fish. He's such a cute little guy, and so friendly and I wish he had a more prominent place in our house and a more entertaining home.
