What Causes Holes in Laundry?

I have noticed, especially lately, that my closes- Alll the family- have tiny holes in them. I use Tide, gain, oxy spary and powder, sometimes all and pyrex. Mostly I use Tide and all. My clothes are set on a delicate/slow cycle. Any ideas? I hate paying for clothes, for them to have holes in them a month later. Thank you!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the advice. I will start trying to wash my jeans and heavy zippered fabrics sep with less treatment on my clothes.

I had an issue one time with zippers. I was all jeans, pants, hoodies--anything with zippers separately. Zippers can damage fabrics. Also, watch for clasps on things like bras. Those clasps can snag and create holes too.

I used to find tiny holes in all of our t shirts, new and old. Now I separate knits and heavier clothing like jeans, and never wash them together. No more holes in the T's. I'm guessing that the metal zippers, velcro and rivets on our jeans were snagging or at least rubbing on the more delicate knits and prematurely wearing out the fabric. So now, anything with a zipper gets washed together, zippers closed, buttons fastened and the item gets turned inside out to prevent the items from snagging eachother.

We get holes just at the level of the button on our jeans so assumed that is the cause. The fabric stretches and if it is already thin then the fibres seem to just fall apart. I agree it is annoying after spending all that money on the clothes. Sorry I don't have any answers!

If you overload the washer, the top rim may be ripping things.

No help but funny: my exhusband used to wear his pants and jeans out in the crotch all the time, even when he was young. Holes in the crotch before any wear anywhere else. His dad said that he always told him that he had sandpaper balls. he he :)

I found little holes in my knits and delicates, and found that the source was sliverfish. Might be time to call the exterminator. :(
