Wedding Favors - Gilbert,AZ

My friends daughter just got married and she set up at table with different kinds of candy in different shapes and sizes of clear bowls. There were small cellophane bags there and everyone just filled their own bags. This was set up at the reception. The kids loved it and the adults had fun trying the different candies.

Guest favors, I'm assuming? It really depends on what kind of favors you're looking for and what your price point is.

We gave our guests a bottle of wine per family, couple or individual invited and bought custom labels for the wine bottles from Stoneycreek Wine Press.

For our wedding we gave out personalized wedding CDs. My husband really enjoys music, so he made a playlist of some special songs, and others that just symbolized great music to us. Then we compiled the song files and burned them to CDs on our computer. Then we found a beautiful picture of a tulip online and designed a label for the CD using a software kit you can purchase anywhere (I think we got it from Target). We got white CD envelopes that had a clear window so you could see the CD label through it. Then I typed up the playlist and a Thank You note and printed it on a label for the outside of the envelope. Overall, it was a very economical favor to give out, no ordering required. If you have a lot of guests, you'll want to enlist help to make them, since it is a little tedious. Two years later we are still getting compliments from our guests at how unique and fun they were.

Another idea, which my cousin recently did, is to have a candy "bar". Get a bunch of varying size/shape glass jars and bowls and display lots of different types of candy and treats. Throughout the night guests can come up and fill up a bag with their favorites. Very neat and little work required to pull it off. Just need someone to make sure candy gets replenished when needed.

A third idea I love, is the photo holder coasters. Personally, I wouldn't include a photo but a favorite quote, something wedding related. You can pretty much order these from anywhere and just personalize them yourself.

My last idea to share is tree saplings. You can get them from the Arbor Society. Super cute idea for a "green" wedding favor. The only reason I ended up not going with this was that many of my guests were from out of town and I did not have a backup plan for where to plant of bunch of trees if they were not taken home.

We just ordered favors for my niece's shower from Yankee Candle - they did the entire favors up including the tag and it was reasonably priced. They were a total hit for the shower. My friend used them for her daughter's baby shower and for her other daughter's bridal shower. Ladies LOVE candles.

What kind of favors is he looking for?

Our caterer did 1/2 of our favors (chocolate dipped fortune cookies), and the other 1/2 we did ourselves.

I just got back from a wedding that had toy metal bicycles & giant microbes as the wedding favors (doctors who like to bike were the bride and groom)... I've been to others where the favors were japanese fans (oriental trading, I think), truffles, mini perfumes & shadow rounds, music boxes, guitar pics in shot glasses, martini glasses, wine glasses, zippos, hard candies, sand dollars, art glass... where the favors come from is REALLY determined by what the favors are.

Ok, I don't have a website because it depends on what you are looking for. Not sure if you already know what you want to get, but I have a couple of ideas from things I've received as favors. One wedding was in the fall and they had little metal painted pumpkins with our place name cards stuck in the leaves/vine (with the glue dots) that were also our favors. I put it out with my fall decorations. Another wedding had heart shaped cookie cutters tied with a ribbon to a recipe for sugar cookies. I've since used it many, many times. We went to a wedding in Hawaii and received cute flip-flop luggage tags. These are the ones I remember because they were practical and actually get used, although they don't have to be expensive.

It is a lot less expensive to make your own favors. I know my husband and I slaved over leather pouches for months and then put 5 stones representing different things inside of them. I know some people who bought little bubble bottles and had some ribbon made with their names and the date of their wedding and they tied the ribbons on the bottles. I know others who have put little candies into mesh and tied it with ribbons that had their names and the date of the wedding on them. It all depends on how personal you want to make them. Our were done by buying leather and cutting the shape and punching holes and sewing it up with leather string. We put a stamp on each side and then placed the small stones inside and tied them closed.
