We Are Seaching for a Great Pediatrician for Our Toddler!

I recommend Berkeley Pediatrics (not to be confused w/Pediatrics Medical Group of Berkeley). We have Kaiser but I have plenty of friends who use the peds in this group & are very happy. I personally know one of the peds in the group; Dr. Olivia Lang as she has twin daughters in my older son's class. I've seen her in 'dr mode' & she has great bedside manner & is very caring. Their offices are on Walnut in Berkeley just off Shattuck. They have a web site but can't remember the address just now so you can google them or Dr. Olivia Lang herself & that will feed you to their web site. Good luck & welcome to the East Bay!

There is a great children's acupunturist in Emeryville. Her name is Jill Steven's and her # is ###-###-####. She helped my son with digestion and he is 17 months. She does sliding scale.

We love Dr. Meezan at Pediatric Medical Group of Berkeley - she's warm and knowledgeable. The office would be pretty easy to get to from Emeryville as it's in South Berkeley close to Alcatraz Avenue (an ideal street for getting from South Berkeley to Emeryville).

I have no idea if they take Medi-Cal but you could call them to find out.

Dr. Shay out of Children's Hospital Oakland and Kaiser Oakland is a wonderful, knowledgeable pediatrician who specializes in allergies and asthma.

Children's Hospital in Oakland and Lucille Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford (Palo Alto) are the premier facilities for pediatric care in Northern California.

I highly recommend Dr. Kalar or Dr. Lang at Berkeley Pediatrics Group. I have been using them for 2 years and love them. However, I do not think they except Medi-Cal but I would call to check. Unfortunately I had a difficult time finding pediatricians that except Medi-Cal. There is a place on 6th and University in Berkeley that excepts it. I believe it called Berkeley Health and Human Services. I took my daughter there once when I had Medi-Cal for insurance. They did a thorough job and I was pleased. Good luck in your search.

We love Dr. Patricia Chiang in Oakland. We have also met two other doctors in the practice and liked them too. We have not had trouble getting appointments quickly.

If your son has not been seen at a Kaiser Permenente, you are not able to have your child seen there under Medi-Cal insurance.

Hi A.! We moved out here from Lansing, MI a year and a half ago. I don't know if this info will be helpful for you, but we are with Kaiser, which we are really happy with (we LOVE our pediatrician Dr. Karen Kruger at Richmond Kaiser - she is awesome). We've always been able to get in in a timely manner, they are great with getting the referrals we've needed, and their phone advice service is great. We've been happy with East Bay Pediatrics http://www.eastbaypediatrics.com - our girls' doc is Dr. Sarah Handelsman but all the docs we've seen for sick visits have been very helpful, knowledgeable, and personable. They have offices in Berkeley (near Alta Bates Hospital) and Orinda (a few blocks off the hwy 24 offramp). We've had no trouble getting same day sick appointments when needed.
