I have noticed i am not as cute as i used to be since i had my child. I am 27 and have a 13 month old. I let my hair grow long no hair cuts just plain jane was still wearing my plain maternity cloths. very sad indeed i started to feel blah...About a month or 2 ago i went out and treated myself to some cute cloths....a few dresses some cute shirts mostly t shirt types but cute ones some tank tops but with stuff on them stuff that i put on i felt cute...finally got my hair cut styled and finally go the nerve to get contacts.... I found i got so busy i just let myself go and spoiled my child...after those things i felt a hundred times better.. im still large my next track is the gym ..haha where to find time for that...but i feel alot better about myself i can dress up and feel like a sexy woman agin i think all women need that....im not the style queen but i say find what you think looks good and go for it....and what your husband thinks helps a little too:) I do tend to like some junuior styles some r young some r not....i tried shopping in the my age section....womens ....and found alot of that stuff is so old ....if you r skinny options r limitless but if your like me goodys ross's and stores liek that r great.....well i hope you find some thing ...gl :) i hope this helps and not just some rambling from a lonely mom :)

Im also quilty of this...I have a limited wardrobe b/c I dont put forth effort in going shopping when I do have the money b/c I always find something the kids or house needs over me so I feel guilty when I spend any money on myself. My birthday just passed on friday and my husband treated me to a nice dinner at a place called double tree hotel where they have live jazz music every friday and seafood..fantastic place...I highly recommend it..25 just to get it plus the cost of ur food but more than worth it.Anyway, the whole time I just kept feeling like I didn't deserve it because I'm fat and didnt think I looked as good as I should right now.I feel a little better b/c the past week I have replaced all my sugary drinks with water other than the occasional glass of tea now. I also dont eat hardly anything except dinner my prob is lack of exercise....husband always has the car but that's all gonna change tomorrow...my little man is going to school and Ill only have my 13 month old so I plan on doing alot more walking...just wish I could jump through time and already be half way there lol.Seems like only famous people are able to pop out a baby and look the exact same.Would be nice if we all lived even remotely close to meet a couple time a week to walk or run together...just seems so hard to find the time now a days or energy for that matter.Anyway, I shop sometimes at a place called dots but most of their close just seem too out there in style...like hey look at me I have a bright orange top on with the word lick me on the butt of my pants lol.I think Im gonna try goodies next for me the worst place to shop if ur not petite is walmart for clothes....its a nightmare to find something that might fit b/c everything is scattered and nothing fits like the tag portrays.Someone should write ahandbook on how to switch back to being a hot female from being a full time mom without depriving anyone.I too have let my hair grow wild...it's all the way down to my butt now...Im gonna cut it ....eventually...the question is, when? lol

Nothing wrong with jeans, but I try to avoid t shirts unless they're cute or different in some way. Everyone's different--it's whatever makes you comfortable and feel good about yourself.

I suggest you also go to get a facial and update your make-up look. Just by doing something this simple will help with your view of yourself! You will have increased confidence and feel good about yourself when you step out of the door. You will also want to dress yourself up a notch or two, or three (ha,ha) because you "put your face on". You can go to www.marykay.com/ahawkins429 to see what is new and fresh with skin care. Mary Kay facials are free. You get to try everything and no purchase is required. If you have any questions or just want some tips I will be glad to help.
Good luck,
A. H
P.S. One of my favorite shows is "What Not to Wear" on TLC. If you are able to get that show, it is VERY helpful. I have learned a lot about fashion and dressing your body. What they can do is AMAZING!

Boy, have I ever let myself go!!! I'm a mommy of two also (28 months and 6 months) and I dispise my new body. I still have 15 lbs to get back to pre-baby body. I did join a gym a few months ago but find it hard to go around my husband's schedule. My goal is to try and go at least 2 times a week. I'm also working with a trainer, but only one time a week. This has helped me the most but the lbs don't want to come off. I'm also a vegetarian so all I eat is veggies & carbs! Not helping, I know! I wear mostly capris and v-neck tees. I can't wear shorts and most skirts because of the horrible vericose veins I have (a gift from my 2nd pregancy!) My suggestion is to hit the sales racks at Ann Taylor in the mall. They have great stuff but the best part is that the clothes run big so if you're wearing a size 10 now, their size 8 will fit you. It's great for the ego!! LOL!
You're not alone!

Hey,

One thing I have done is do a lot of same color stuff---kind of Garanimals for grown-ups---so I can wear one of my 5 brown or 5 black t-shirts with my brown vest or my black and brown jacket, etc. so it's kind of no brainer but I feel like better about how I look (and of course they are all worn with, what else---jeans). Also---necklace and earrings help a lot---not fancy, not expensive---just a little decoration for a pick-me up. And for comfort, nothing beats a Target warm-up suit! And they always have some on sale in cute colors.

Good luck!

Hi B.,

You should be wearing whatever is comfortable to you. If Jeans and Tees are what is in for you right now, do it. Please don't get hung up on the "what should I be doing" thing. I wear tank tops and shorts at home while hubby is at work (I work from home) Then, just before he gets here, I spruce up the house and I spruce up me with a freshly washed face and brushed hair and clean clothes.
I only get "dressed up" for church and if we are going out somewhere.

So stay clean and neat and beat the heat with shorts and tees. You will be a happier person and that is the thing that husbands crave most, happy wives!

You are in my prayers,
W.

I felt the same way after having my son. I went out and bought some inexpensive, and comfortable summer dresses. Nothing fancy mostly cotton, and both long and short. It is a great way to be low maintenance not get frumpy, and feel cute. Plus the new styles flatter any body type.

I had the same problem. For 5 years I wore jeans and the solid color old navy tshirts. A new color every day was my only variation. I finally started wearing shirts with prints and paterns atleast but I have to confess I am still pretty casual. It is comfy and laundry is easier. I say don't worry so much about it. Buy your self a few cute tops and some nicer capris and have fun shopping.

Hi B.,

LOL. It's not an unusual question. I dress similarly, but I have learned to wear more "dressy" tops. I wear v-neck or very feminine tops with my jeans. My daughter is almost 3 and it's hard to keep anything clean around her, but it makes me feel more confident and a little bit more attractive when I wear something that not only feels comfortable, but that looks good. So dont throw out your jeans or shorts, just find some nice tops and that will slowly get you back in the groove of things. I've even started wearing my heels once in a while with my jeans and dress tops. Give you that youthful feel again and just makes you feel sexy. Enjoy yourself and have fun. Who cares overall what anyone thinks...be yourself and be happy with that. If you want, get a great haircut or a manicure..do something for you that makes you feel good and less "letting yourself go". I gained 50 lbs after my daughter was born and still haven't worked it off so I'm now walking daily to try and drop those pounds. Do whatever works for you. Have a great day.
