My doctor told me the same thing. I was pregnant before I even had a period. Dr said about 1yr to get back to normal. I skipped my next shot and 2mths later had a positive test. It varies a lot depending on how your body is. I have always gotten pregnant immediately. Just try to take it easy and relax. Remember that it could take a while and your body might surprise you. Don't stress.

Have you started having regular periods since stopping the shot? This may be an unconventional way, but you might actually want to consider going on the pill for a couple of months to get your system used to a normal "cycle". I was also on the shot for several years and it wreaked havoc on my system. Perhaps after a couple of months of regular cycles, your body will say, "oh! I remember this! I know what to do now!" ....Just a thought. If you haven't started having periods since you stopped your shot, the doc can give you a couple of hormone pills to jump start your system to have a period.

One last piece of unsolicited advice.....I'd wait until the fiance becomes your husband. Trust me, it will make things 100% easier and more secure. Take it from someone who unfortunately knows!!

Good luck!

Hi B.:
Once you have some regularity to your cycles, I highly recommend www.FertilityFriend.com - someone on here mentioned it and I think it's a great tool for keeping track of your cycles, without even having to think about it! Good luck...

B., I was on the shot about 2 years and the pill after that. When I got married we talked about having a baby and my Dr. said that it would take up to 3 months to get pregnant just because of the lenght of time that I was on Birth Control....we got pregnant 3 weeks later. I would just really watch your days and when you ovulate and you should be able to time when the best day is to conceive. Good Luck

My husband and I tried for 3 years nonstop for our first son. The moment we quit trying is when we got pregnant! I also prayed everyday for 3 years and finally got what I wanted....God works in mysterious ways...ask Jesus.... :)

Make sure all the birth control is out of your system before you start trying to conceive. There can be some possible birth defects if you are not fully off of the meds or it is not fully out of your system. So be careful :) Good Luck!!!!

I read that taking folic acid helps not only with a healthy baby, but with conception. I also agree with the post about watching your ovulation dates. Or even buy one of those ovulation predictor kits. The main thing is stay relaxed and try not to stress out about it. That could hurt your chances.
Good Luck

Stay of the pill until you have been married at least 1 year.

I have had problems with conceiving all of my children (3), and I wasn't on birth control pill, In fact with my first two I took a fertility drug called clomid, it makes you ovulate, because my cycle was about every 6 months. With my third child I tried the clomid but it didn't work, so I started changing my diet, my advice to you is NO Hydrogenated oils, NO High Frutose Corn Syrup, NO Food Dyes, Red # 40 is the wrost, NO caffine. And Eat LOTS of fresh RAW fruits and vegs, sweet potatoes, avocados, papaya. Papaya has a vitiman in it that they just discovered called PQQ, and it helps with fertility. If you can't, wont' or don't get 7-13 servings a day in your diet, then you might want to look into Juice Plus, I got pregnant after 6 months on it without the fertility drugs, and my cycles improved. This may sound obvious but have lots and lots of sex!! :) I think alot of times people get caught up in trying to figure out when their ovulating, when the right time is etc..They get so stressed out with trying they make it harder! My theroy is this- if your having enough sex than when the time is right you'll already be on top of it (no pun intended:) When we decided to try for number 2 I think my husband may have been the happiest man in america! Vitamins and folic acid are great too so your body is in great shape to support the baby when it does happen. Also make sure your hubby is taking his vitamins and boxers are better than briefs. Good luck- and remember to enjoy yourself!

B.,
The main thing is, don't stress and worry about it. Stress can cause infertility. That is why you hear about so many couples trying for years to conceive and don't, then they adopt and a year later, they are pregnant. Let nature take over. Good luck and God bless.

I am 31 years old my Husband & I were together for 12 years 5 1/2 years were married before trying to have our first baby. He is now 15months old. My advice wait til you are married get to know one another as a married couple. Things will all fall into place when you are physically, mentally, emotionally ready, if it is meant to be!! Too many young people are rushing into parenthood & then jumping out of the relationship because they BOTH TAKE HARD WORK, to make them work!!! Be happy being a married couple first. Get finically stable it helps. Do you realize how much $ it takes to get a child through the first year of life?? If you do not breastfeed formula is $25.00 per can if your baby is not allergic to cows milk that is or require a special formula that may take over 200.00 per week!! Diapers are not cheep .20per diaper 10 changes a day! BE PREPARED, do not be in a hurry!
