Want a Jolly Jumper, but Not Many Door Frames?

I don't know how to word this the best way so everyone knows what I'm talking about, but my apartment doesn't have a traditional doorway entering the living room and kitchen. It has an open floor plan, and there's just a very wide opening for the living room, and a normal sized doorway from there into the kitchen, but nothing for a doorway jumper to clamp onto. I know there were some that screw into ceiling joists, and would love to find one but I haven't had much luck. Can anyone help me find one, hopefully one that isn't outrageously priced? Or could anyone tell me how I could modify a doorway jumper to work anyway, even if it hangs in the middle of a room? I'm not sure how to get this to work out, and I really want to get one.

What can I do next?

Do not get a Jolly Jumper they are notoriously UNSAFe. You can get a Jumperoo they look a lot like a swing but are on springs.

I had this same issue in my home. We got a jumperoo instead, the baby loved it way more.

The ones with the eye hooks are quite old - not sure if they make them anymore.

There is free standing one that doesn't require any holes in the ceiling or a doorway to clamp on to. Look at the Toys R Us website - I'm sure they have them.

Have you considered a Jumperoo (I think Fisher Price makes this brand)? You can usually find them at baby consignment stores or craigslist. You can google it. Same idea as a Johny Jumper (the baby jumps and bounces), yet it has a floor base.

I have heard the the ones that hang are unsafe also. The one that is on springs sounds much safer.

We had the same problem in our house. Open concept with no frames around what few doorways we had. I bought a jumper (can't remember the brand though) and took the clamp off the chain/spring. Then I screwed a large hook to a stud in the ceiling and attached the jumper to it. I used a hammer to close the hook around the chain so it could not fall off. My son loved his jumper!

In your case i suggest just getting a stand along jumper such as this one. My kids had one and loved it. I bought this one as we were in an apartment and i didnt want to risk damaging the walls.

We had a similar issue, we had door frames but no room where they were located to hang the jump around. I finally found a metal hook ( the type you use to hang plants). I Hung it and joined the clamps together and secured it with lots of duck tape. It held forever and my son was pretty hefty! I got him a jumparoo not to sure what is the make, but I got it at toysrus. I recommend a jumper, jumparoo, whatever it's called because at least my son really enjoyed it and at the same time strengthened his legs.
