We use Blue-Star ointment. Any antifungal should work b/c ringworm is a fungus, not worms. You can use athletes foot creme or cremes for vaginal infections.

My friend had told me to try putting bleach on the ringworm like 2 times a day and that will dry it up so it can go away.Besides that I took my boys to the doctor and they gave them shampoo and some cream for it also.

There is an herbal treatment for ringworm. It is a mixture of teatree oil and water. I used this mixture on my daughter last year when she had ringworm. We used the mixture for 2 weeks, and saw no improvement. Her skin is so sensitive that it actually started to look worse. I continued to treat her for another 2 weeks, and it didn't go away. I am a firm believer in herbal treatments, but I had to admit defeat on this one. I went to the store, and bought some antifungal cream(the kind used to treat athelete's foot). Within a week,it was almost gone. I continued to use the antifungal cream for 3 more weeks, and it worked!!! NO MORE RINGWORM!!!! If you decide to use the cream, make sure you get one with Clotrimazole as the active ingredient. I hope this helps.

Hi,

I am very much into holoistic and non-prescription care. I try not to go to the doctor at all if I can help it.

The following things are what I have used for ringworm:

Tea Tree Oil
Over the Counter Jock Itch ointment (same fungus causes Ringworm)

Athletes foot spray or ointment (same fungus as Ringworm)
Diluted Grapefruit Seen Extract

there are many others, but these are pretty easy to get a hold of. However, be sure to tell your son that non perscripted remedies usually take longer, and that he must be consistent with them for them to work.

Hope this helps.

Rubbing Alcohol in the morning and at night gets rid of it really fast. It suffocates it and dries it up while soothing the itching. Worked like a charm!

My daughter had ringworm recently and we treated it with an over-the-counter antifungal cream. It went away very quickly, but be sure to coat the area for at least 2 weeks or it may come back. I found the cream to be the least dangerous method to get rid of them. Hope that helps!

The only thing that I know works is athletes foot spray. You put it on the area a couple of times a day. I can't remember how long it takes though. I hope this helps.

Tea Tree Oil!!!!!!! I consider myself the expert on ringworm. We had a complete nightmarish experience w/ it. My cat had it and we didn't know it until my son and I kept getting it (all over us; we'd get rid of one spot and it would show up somewhere else). I finally realized it was b/c the cat had it and it was all over our house. We had to bleach our floors, wash all the surfaces, and get rid of the cat (found a good home for him luckily). Anyway, the antifungal creams didn't work for us and tea tree oil was a miracle. I applied it full strength to the area a couple times per day for 2 wks. It penetrates the skin much better than the creams.
So good luck to you and feel free to email me if you need any further info.

O.,

Any of the anti-fungal creams applied to the "ring" until about a week after it is completely gone will work. They are generally with the foot care. Tinactin is a good one to use.

Any antifungal over the counter cream. The key is be consisitent. Put the cream on the spot, cover it all, day and night until WELL past when it is visibly gone.
My daughter has had it several times. Once it was as big as her whole back before we figured out what it was. No problem, just cream. Yeast infection cream, athletes foot cream, any of those.
Good luck.

In college my new kitten gave me a ringworm on my arm, and I went to the dermotologist and paid for creams...they didn't work. Then they gave me an oral antibiotic that cost over $300 because I didn't have insurance. Well...after that someone told me tea tree oil. I went...bought a $6 bottle...and it was gone within the week! Try it...I swear by it now!

Black Walnut Hull Liquid. Add a small amount to a bandaid or piece of cotton. Tape it over the spot. Two or three applications will do it. Public toilet seats can be a source.

Ringworm is not actually a worm at all, but a fungal infection of the skin - often caught in nursery school sand pits, etc.
You need to get an anti-fungal cream to apply from your pharmacy asap.

My son had what it appeared to be a ringworm (an exact round circle), so the pedi treated it with Lotrimum. It didn't go away so then we treated it with Hydrocortozone. It didn't go away so it turned out to be a form of excema and continue to use the Lotrimum. He coninues to get them every now and then and we treat it with Lotrimum.

My mother would either draw a circle around the ringworm with an ink pen or take a plastic lid (just a bit bigger than the ringworm) and press until there is an impression of the lid. You don't have to push too hard! I don't know how it works but it did when I was a child. Good luck!

I know it sounds pretty yucky but it's urine.
Ringworm is a fungus just like athletes feet. It's really not a worm.
And urine works for athletes feet too.

It's even good with ear aches.

Just thought I'd share. My daughter would get them from daycare all the time so that's what My great-grandma said to do and it worked faster than the over the counter creams.

Good luck.

Ps. also wash the sheets with warm water once it's gone.

The cause of ringworm is infection, and the easiest way to get it is through skin contact with somebody who has it. Learning how to get rid of it is therefore the best way to do.

Steps of how to get rid of ringworm

Clean the area where you suspect ringworm is about to erupt, the extremely itchy part of your skin.
If there is hair in the area where the red spot appears, you may need to shed the hair around it.
Clean it with soap. Some people say that Selsun Blue, the shampoo for dandruff may be used to clean the ringworm well. It will help clean and reduce the spread of fungus.
Put Lamaism, it is an anti-fungal cream that will help clear the infection.
Put bandage over the ringworm with Lamisil. This is to avoid the cream from rubbing off.
If you follow this advice, you may be able to get rid of ringworm in about two weeks or less. It may also help to complement the Lamisil treatment with oral medication to ensure that you will be cleared of this itchy red ring on your skin. As mentioned, ringworm is contagious. It is therefore necessary that you avoid physical contact with somebody who has ringworm.

How to get rid of ringworm starts and ends in taking care of your skin and keeping it free from irritants.

Hope this helps!
