Very Inexpensive Date

I don't really have any more ideas but wanted to say I think the date night at home or the potluck party both sound like great plans! The only other thing I can think of is maybe doing something outdoors, like going to a national park or going camping--either just the two of you or with a group of friends. How's the weather there?

This is what I do with my hubby often and frequently.

Get real close to his ear and tell him all the things you respect about him. Watch him beam like the sun. This isn't about what you appreciate about him but tell him, "I respect the way you...I respect you for...etc".

I treat my husband like the king that he truly is and he lavishes me with love. It's wonderful. May sound crazy but works.

Our the children going to someone elses home? If yes, stay in. Cook a nice meal, or pick up some take out, and rent a movie.

How's the weather? Go on a picnic.

Are you near the beach? Take a nice walk.

Celebrate with friends. Visit some friends, bring a bottle of wine and some cheese and crackers.

If the person who is watching your children for the night could watch the kiddos as their house, you could plan a great "date night" at home for much less than going out.

- order Chinese take out (usually under $20 for 2 people)
- make his favorite dinner (great pasta dishes or even steaks can be done cheaply)
- nice bottle of wine or favorite beer
- watch his favorite movie (even if you've watched it 100 times and still don't think it's funny...)

This is NOT a criticism (seems like people are a little touchy on this site today), but if he's stressed about finances and doesn't want to spend money to go out to dinner, then you can make him feel special by respecting that and staying in for the night!

Golf driving range. Most of them are heated and a bucket of balls is really inexpensive. Bring along some beer or champagne and maybe some wings or his favorite food and have a great time hitting.

My husband and I suck at golf, but we get such a kick out of trying to drive the ball. It is one of our favorite dates. It doesn't cost a lot and he gets to feel really manly because he can often drive the ball farther than me. 8)

We love picnics..
Sometimes, I just pack up leftovers and kidnap my husband from work at lunch time and drive him to a park for lunch.

You could do the same thing for dinner..

Or if you have a DVD player in your car.. (or borrow one from a friend) do a "drive in somewhere" and watch a romantic movie.. have movie candy, popcorn and snuggle under blankets together..

Is it warm where you are? Why not see if any of his friends can chip in, have a surprise party, get YOUR friends involved, call them all the party patrol... see if someone wouldn't mind bringing a few sides, desserts, drinks, black confetti (haha)... the more the merrier, and it would mean the world to your hubby to have everyone there!! HAVE FUN!

My daughter and her boyfriend used to go to downtown to scout out every restaurant, cafe and bakery for the cheapest desserts they could afford and have desserts there. One time, they went to a very fancy/expensive pastry shop but ordered one thing to share! It was quite romantic! You can spend a lot of time together, walking, comparing and getting your appetites up and savage every bite! You can also go to more than one place to sample different desserts...

I know its probably cold at the beach but I would still pack a picnic dinner and build a fire in the pit. Take some chairs and enjoy some quiet time outside and together, watch the sun set and don't forget the marshmellows! And then surprise him with a little lovin' later!!!

Rubio's fish tacos, In and Out, Chick fil A, are decent chains that offer reasonable prices, you could also try Pho (vietnamese), and small deli independently owned stores might offer delicious food at affordable prices. As for the date, our favorite was to walk around Home Depot or Lowes and dream or ooh and ahh. That's free. Looking around Barnes and Nobel and Boarders Books is a nice way to spend time together. Yogurtland isn't that pricy. Look up a good place to take a walk--a rural walk would be best. You can look up that on the internet.

What about going to a BYOB restaurant for dinner? Many Italian restaurants offer BYOB. You can bring your own bottle of wine, and some place have a cork fee ($2 or $3), and some places have no cork fee. This way, you can your husband can eat dinner for under $30. Or, what about a movie at a cheap theater? We have a movie theater that has movies for 1 or 2 dollars. Have fun!

Wine tasting. Tastings are usually free and you can bring your own picnic.

A lot of Mexican food places are cheap. You can get a free ice cream at Baskin Robins for your b-day. You just have to sign up on-line beforehand. Cold Stone was doing this too and changed it to a free ice cream at the beginning of the year. Anyway, good luck!!!

If you're anywhere near an Old Spaghetti Factory, they are VERY affordable. Two people can get in and out with a delicious meal with lots of ambiance, for under $25.

A picnic outside? Dinner made at home? Maybe his favorite movie and food at home? Maybe throw in something that he loves to do that doesn't require too much money or no money involved.
