Universal Studios with Little Ones?

I only have experience with Universal Studios in California, but my brother worked at the one in Orlanda and said it's basically the same.
In my opinion, it's for older kids, teens and adults.
The rides are mostly virtual, but they have a lot of jerking motions, and are loud. Some do have hieght/age restrictions.
They do have a few water play areas, games (like fairs have), restaraunts, characters, and maybe a few shows the little ones could go to, but all in all, most of the rides aren't geared for little ones.

I live in Orlando, and last November my sister got us free tickets to Islands of Adventure. We went with my then 20 month old and there were 2 rides and a playground that she could go on and that was it. One of the rides is a carousel and one was the one fish, two fish ride (it is the same as Dumbo or Aladdins Magic Carpets at Disney, but you ride in fish). My daughter is on the short side but I can't imagine your one year old would be much bigger than she is/was then. You can look up height requirements on the universal website. We were so glad that we hadn't paid to get in for the day! My husband and I have gone to IOA a few times, but I'm not big on roller coasters and have been pregnant much of the time that we have lived in orlando that there just isn't enough for us to do.
The regular side of Universal Studios has a little more that kids can do, but really not much. It is also mostly shows so if your kids don't have the attention span for it, that might not work out well for you either. I think you would be better waiting for universal until your youngest is about 8. It is really more for teens and adults.

I have been to both Universal Studios (FL & CA) and would say it is for older kids. They do have shows but the loud noises might & do scare little ones. I would stick with Disney World or maybe try SeaWorld.

From our experience, Universal was "too big" for our twins to enjoy. We're hoping to get back this year, but they're still only 6 and very limited on alot of the rides.

Universal is better for big kids and teens and those that like wild rides. Did you visit all the Disney parks? Make a list of things you didn't get to do on your last trip and start there, disney has special events for Halloween and for Christmas. And the parks have beautiful decorations. Christmas week is magical, but way to crowded. Try earlier in dec. Have fun!
