I am looking for a student who needs to make some extra cash this summer. Preferably someone close or in my neighborhood. I am close to Rosemeade and Old Denton. Both my boys are having trouble in school and need extra help, the six year old (currently 5) is in kindergarten but is not where he should be and may need to repeat. My 12 yr. old son is going into the 7th grade and mostly needs help with Math. I would like to have 1 tutor for each boy in the evenings during the week, like from 7:00 - 8:00 pm or something like that. Please give me your suggestions or responses. There would also be babysitting possibilities. Both boys love video games and the oldest likes watching movies and talking.
Thank you

Hi,

I am a mom living nearby at Old Denton and Frankford. I too have raised two sons (married for 25+ years) and currently have one son, my youngest(age 15, will turn 16 this summer), who would be interested in tutoring a few days a week. He will be attending summer school (to get ahead, and have more time for orchestra). He currently attends Creekview HS as a sophomore. I work as a teacher and am attending grad school so evenings are best. I have never, ever responded to anything online so I am not sure what the protocol is. Let me know if you would like more info.

Hello my name is J. and I am 22 I am a student finishing up my associates, I live off of old denton and hebron and I am interested in tutoring or babysitting, I work as a dental assistant in dallas, go to covenant church off of trinity mills and I to have twin 5yr old girls. They live with their grandmother lets just say I have been blessed with the opportunity to go to school and make myself a better person. So that is what I am doing. I can use the extra cash though school is quite expensive. I only work 4days a week and usually take online classes. I only have my lil girls on the weekends because they go to school during the week. So if I sound like someone you can have around your family than dont hesitate to contact me. Thanks J. ###-###-####

Hi K. -- I don't have any advice for a tutor in your area, but I can definitely vouch for having your younger son repeat kindergarten, especially if he isn't even six years old yet. My son has a January birthday, so we struggled trying to decide about repeating kindergaten after he was already six. What I kept hearing over and over was that no one was ever sorry that they held their child back in kindergarten. It's an easy age to do it because there isn't the stigma of repeating a grade like there might be when they're older. Socially my son would have been fine to go on to 1st grade, but academically he just wasn't there. He's in 3rd grade now and has some struggles in math, but we put in extra time to help him with flash cards, workbooks that you can find at most bookstores, and math games on the computer. The extra time is paying off and he should be ready for the upcoming TAKS tests. I would recommend all of these things for both of your sons. Good luck!

Check with your school guidance counselor. There are a lot of teachers who tutor on the side for extra money.

I substitute teach and I know quite a few teachers at the only where school I sub who are booked with tutoring jobs. A few of the younger/newer teachers also babysit.
