Hi all,
I have a 2 part question:
1) Has anyone had radioactive iodine therapy for Graves Disease, and how soon after did you TTC? I have been told to wait from 6 months to a year, and I wanted to start trying in September, which would only be 10 months after the treatment.
2) Because I had this treatment, I have had to wait to TTC, I wanted to do it this past summer, because I dont want a big age gap between my son (2 1/2) and second child. At this rate, it would be about 4 years if I TTC this summer/September. The thing is, I hope to start a new job in September in the school system, and dont know what superviors would think if I just started, and a couple months later am sporting a bump. I would try to time it to have a due date in the summer, but still...

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks!!

What can I do next?

I got pregnant a month after have I131 treatment. We had been having major difficulty ttc prior to it so we weren't very careful afterwards, thinking that it still wouldn't happen - but it did. We were pretty scared at first of the possible risks to the baby but all of the radioactive iodine flushes from your system rather quickly anyway. The baby, now almost ten, happens to be gifted and talented - with a 97th % full scale IQ. :) Good luck!

Hi, I had Graves disease and radioactive iodine. My doctor's told me not to even try to get pregnant at least a year after that. Now, I did have it when I was 22 and didn't have a my daughter until I was 29. I did though have problems during my pregnancy with my thyroid and afterwards.
