TTC After the Pill

Hi everyone,
I just finished a pill pack and would like to start trying to conceive after my period. I've done some research online and there seems to be mixed feelings on this. Some people say it's safe to get pregnant right away, while others believe there could still be lingering hormones from the pill and I should wait at least a couple months. Anyone have any info on this? Anyone get pregnant right after stopping BC and were there any complications?? Thanks!!

So What Happened?

Thanks so much for all of your responses!!!! Because of them, I felt comfortable trying as soon as I went of the pill... and I'm now pregnant! It took about 1 1/2 months :)

I got pregnant right after going off the pill two times. There were no problems and my kids were perfect. Go for it! :)

I stopped taking the pill in at the very end of November 2009. We started trying to conceive the second week of December and I ended up getting pregnant sometime in mid January. There were no complications..my daughter is 9 months old now, good luck!!

I got pregnant 2 weeks after I stopped the pill and was surprised it happened so quickly b/c I was 36 and thought it might be a bit harder. My daughter is 4 now and perfect - a very healthy baby and little girl. Good luck

The only warning we got from our OBGYN about the first month is the increased likelihood of twins! We were pregnant 2 weeks post BCP. So was my sister- with twins!

Hi! I have actually had trouble conceiving, but my friend who calls herself "fertile Mertile" conceived both of her girls right after going off of the pill. She never had a full cycle. Her girls are now in Jr High and High School and they are perfect! She never had any problems with the pregnancies either. Best of luck! May you get your blessing quickly!

I would recommend asking you Gyno... I was told wait one month while I have some friends that were told wait longer. It might depend on the BC pill you are on for how long you should wait. Different BC pills have different amounts of hormones in them, I know I was is considered a "low dose". For me, my first month off the pill was the longest cycle I had ever had in my entire life, especially after being on the pill for years and having a 28 day cycle for so long.

I got pregnant ON the pill, which happens all the time. IMO there is no need to wait, but ask your GYN if you're not sure.

I also got pregnant with my 1st while on the pill ( I missed a weekend of my pills) without complications , you could ask your obgyn for her opinion and even if she suggests waiting a month or two it would be a great time to start charting your bbt and have a month or two to see how your body is operating not to mention charting your bbt will be extremely helpfull while ttc, telling you exactly when your body ovulates rather than using the average ovulation guess.... best of luck & LOTS of baby dust to you!!!

Women get pregnant *on* the pill (because they missed one, or just hit that less than 1% chance and ovulated) AND have completely healthy babies. Go for it. Chances are, it will take a few months regardless while your body gets back into the regular groove.

I finished a pill pack and started trying right away (I was 39, thought is would take some time). Preggers 2 weeks later. Yeah - I felt like I had definitely gottne my money's worth - 20 years of pills - no pregnancy.

I finished a pack and got to work trying to conceive and was pregnant by the end of the month. This happened with 2 of my babies, both healthy:)
