I have a two year old and we are trying for a second starting next cycle. I have had two miscarriages and the last one will have been three months ago (I was 13 weeks at the time). I am approaching 35 and worried we will try a while. Any advice to speed things along? I'm dying to get going again after loosing so many months with an successful pregnancy.

I'm 44 and have a 2 !/2 year old and a 6 month old. I had a miscarriage between them and Dr. Omid Khorram (director of University fertility center in Torrance) told me to take one baby aspirin every day to prevent clotting - a common reason for miscarriage in older moms. he also gave me a prescription for progesterone vaginal suppositories to use after ovulation until pregnancy is confirmed. He was the 3rd fertility specialist I went to and the best! A consultation is $50.00 ###-###-####. Good luck!

I'm so sorry. I can't begin to imagine how someone gets over losing a child whether he/she has already been born or not.
When my husband and I were trying, we were advised to purchase a book that made an amazing difference. You may have heard about it already. It's called "Taking Control of Your Fertility". After reading the book I felt in control of my own body. Here's a link of the book on amazon.com:

I know this isn't much but I wish you all the very best.

Hi Heidi, don't try so hard, you need to relax and let nature take it's course. Enjoy your husband, and if a baby comes from that enjoyment Amen, like you said the Lord has blessed your family enormously. I pray you the baby you are trying for, but if not, it sounds like you have a great family with your husband and your daughter. If it;s God's will you will get pregnant again, I wish you the best. Hi, Heidi,

I, too have experienced a couple of miscarriages.

If you really want to have another child, I highly recommend consulting a reproductive endocrinologist. Both clinics Reproductive Partners (Drs. Meldrum, Rosen, Wisot, Yee, and Cassidenti) and Pacific Fertility Center(Dr. Sahakian) offered excellent advice. I also highly recommend consulting Dr. Khalil Tabsh, a perinatologist and head of obstetrics at UCLA, if you can. Without the advice and care of these doctors, I doubt that I would be a mother of even one child.

To my amazement, my last child, conceived the natural way, was born just six weeks before I turned 42! Neither he nor his older brother, who was born a year earlier, have any congenital defects. You probably have more time left than you think.

Good luck,
Lynne E

When there is a history of multiple miscarriages, a good approach is to undergo treatment with acupuncture and traditional herbal medicine for at least 3 months and probably more like 6 months. This approach helps restore hormonal balance and optimize the entire reproductive system naturally so you can both GET pregnant and STAY pregnant more healthily, without drugs that force the issue.
The key is to find a licensed practitioner in your area who specializes in women's health issues. Check around and ask for referrals, and verify claims based on the practitioner's web site and credentials. But this is a viable natural alternative to drugs and IVF.

Let me know if you need a referral to someone in your area...I am networked with colleagues all around the country.

Be well,

My mom had 8 miscarriages, then started getting adjustments from a chirpractor. Almost a year later, she got pregnant with me and then my brother (pregnancies 9 and 10) was born 22 months later.

After baby #1, we had a hard time getting pregnant, and I was already get adjusted on a regular basis (once a month, if I need it) and started using Emerita progesterone cream over my ovaries after my morning shower. You are suppose to cycle it through, but I used it for 3 months straight and discovered I was pregnant. It was the easiest pregnancy I've had.

We got pregnant with #3 by just debating about another baby! LOL

Good luck!

Hi Heidi,

I'm happy to share that my husband and I had our first child at the age of 39. I used "Fertility Blend for Women" for 3 months and got pregnant, they also have one for men. It's available at GNC (General Nutrition Center)
Our daughter is now 4 yrs old.
We have tried to have another baby, but now 3 miscarriages later, we have decided being blessed with one child is what God's plan is and life is awesome!

Many Blessings to you and your family,
C. Z.

Hi Heidi,

Please don't worry about your age. I know it's harder to get pregnant when you're older but it can be done.

I got pregnant for the first time when I was 38. We thought it would be hard due to our age so about 5 days after my period we starting "trying" - every day for about 10 days in a row. It took the romance out of it but it got the job done. I got pregnant and but then had a miscarriage at 2 months due to low progesterone. 3 months later we decided to try again and I did the same exact thing and it worked again. I got pregnant on my 39th birthday and then immediately started progesterone. My son was born just before I turned 40.

My best friend (who is my age) had 2 successful pregnancies in her early 30's then quite a few miscarriages - not sure why. But she kept trying and her 3rd son was born 2 months after my son was born - 3 months before she turned 40.

I have 2 work friends who got pregnant at 45 with their first baby. They are all healthy.

I don't know if my method will work for you but it may be worth a try. I told you about my friends so you know not to give up hope - it just sometimes takes longer than you'd like.

Good luck! Hope this helps.

I'd suggest you get your thyroid checked out. My husband and I tried for almost a year before my hypothyroidism was diagnosed. It is VERY common and can cause infertility and miscarriage. It may not be a problem for you, but it has been for many women I know who've wanted to get pregnant. You can have your OB do a standard blood test to check your thyroid levels.

It'll happen. Patience is tough, but it will work out.

Best,
S.
