Travel System or an Infant Carseat W/ Carseat Carrier?

I am currently 31wks and still have not bought a carseat for my baby girl on that is on the way. I am torn between choosing a travel system or just buying an infant carseat and buying a carseat carrier. I have heard that travel systems are really bulky and heavy. I am small person myself (4'11) so I don't want anything to big that I will have trouble getting in and out of my suv. However, are the strollers that come with the travel system safer than a carseat carrier frame? I want something safe, dependable and of course not extremely expensive. Does anyone have any advice on what is easier to use and safe? Thank you.

What can I do next?

Hey E.! Well, I am 5'9" so I hope that my advice is good for you!! But I like my travel system. It is called metrolite and is very lightweight, but has been quite durable. I used the infant carrier in my stroller for like 5 months or so and in the car and it worked great. Now I jut use the stroller. It was also one of the less expensive sets which was great. It isn't very feminine though! But I still think that travel sets are the way to go, because after that little one is ready to roll you will love having a stroller handy. Have an awesome day!

All of these answers are awesome. I just wanted to advise you to use a sling instead of carrying a seat around...they are awesome and very comfy... especially since you are a smaller mamma. It is great for time when you wouldn't use a stroller.

Hi E.,

I recommend buying the Graco carseat with a base. It is only $99. And buy the metal frame stroller where the carseat latches to it which is only $40. The metal stroller is very lightweight, and once your daughter out grows the carseat, I would buy a regular lightweight stroller.

I bought the travel system the first time with my son and regret it. I bought another less bulky stroller after he outgrew the carseat. The stroller is very bulky and I did not like it. A cousin had recommended what I recommend to you and I am now taking that advice with my baby on the way.

Good Luck, T.

Hi there. I purhased a Winnie-The -Pooh car seat & Stroller travel system from Wal-Mart. It was under two hundred. It comes with a Car seat "Base" that straps into your vehicle so that it stays in there all the time and the car seat simply locks into it and can then be released to take out. Very conveniant, but you do need a lot of space as the base with car seat does take up more room, but with an SUV, it shouldn't be aproblem. I found it very conveniant and not at all bulky. The stroller is big, but that's good for making very small ones comfy and secure, but it folds easily so was not hard to deal with. Hope this helps and best of luck with your new Angel!!!

The carseat in the travel system is very heavy. It's easy to snap into the car seat base and the stroller, but it is very heavy.

I think you should go to the store and see if you carry it. I h got a travel system when I had my son. They are very helpful. Holding a car seat with a baby in it can become very heavy after awhile. With a System you can take it out of the trunk and then just put the carseat in it. Also IF you baby is sleeping and you have just a carseat and a different stroller you have to wake the baby up to switchfrom onr to another. Also you can use the system when you child is older, my son is 2 1/2 and we still use his sometimes.Good Luck!

E.,
i have 3 kids and was smart enough to use the snap-n-go stroller frame for child #3. so much easier! you can fold them down and put it in the back of your car with one hand. your infant car seat (most brands work) just snaps into the frame so, like the big travel systems, you don't have to worry about taking baby out of her car seat and into a stroller. my stroller frame had a basket underneath big enough to store essentials. they cost about $50.
