Hello - we're planning a summer vacation to visit my parents and was curious what other parents do for a sleeping place for their infant travelers. We've gone on a few short trips already and my daughter wanted nothing to do with sleeping in a pack n' play. She ended up in bed with me which is ok for me, but my husband who is afraid of us rolling over on her didn't sleep a wink. Anyone have any alternate ideas to the pack n' play and/or co-sleeping? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I have friends and neighbors with this Peapod Travel Bed:

I discovered them too late for my twins (we already have pack n plays that they are fine with), but I would have definitely considered them had I known.
Good luck!

We always used the pack and play, but if your folks have a futon or have a friend with a futon, that can be used on the floor. That worked for our babies.

I don't know where you are vacationing, but check to see if there is a place that rents cribs. We went to Florida this summer (near St. Augustine) and rented a crib. The cost was $15 a night or $65 a week. It was absolutely worth it. My daughter has never slept well in a pack 'n play and I was afraid that after a week in bed with us I would have to really fight to get her to sleep in her crib again. She slept fabulously in the rented crib.

Both sets of grandparents have bought cribs at garage sales and put new matresses in them so that when their grandchildren visit they have a comfortable place to sleep. I don't know if your parents have many grandchildren, but depending on how often you visit you may offer to reimburse them if they are able to do this.

Good Luck.

we use the peaPod by KidCo and love it. It is also good for outdoors, like going to the beach.
