Hi All,
I was asking a family member what was on their kids holiday wish list so we can get them something they have been wanting, their response was anything not made in china. Sadly, it's hard to find. Does anyone know of any toy specifics or websites for toys not made in China? Thanks

I would love to find out if there's a site like that myself. Not because I WANT toys, but because my husband makes one-of-a-kind toy barns from 100% reclaimed barn wood and I would love to advertise there. They aren't cheap. It takes about six weeks to take down a barn by himself. If you hear of anything like this, will you pass the information on to me, please? Thanks!! Okay...I should have read the responses first. I have my work cut out for me. I didn't realize there were so many sites. Thanks to everyone else!! And thanks for asking this question. Hope you find what you're looking for.

Seriously moms, the whole China thing was grossly exaggerated. Mattell and other companies have publicly apologized to China on a number of occasions. We all need to make Christmas great for our children and stop worrying so much!!

I'm not sure where you live but there is a store in downtown Northville called Baby Bliss and they have all kinds of toys that are not made in China. Some are USA made, some Germany, etc. What's great is they are learning toys too. The store also has a website if you don't live nearby http://www.naturalbabies.com/. HABA toys and Melissa & Doug are great.

I'm a Discovery Toys Consultant...All of the toys are gauranteed and they/we have not had any problems with recalls. They aspire to the highest standards of excellence and I believe many of the toys are american made...although I could not find any info published about it on the website. Feel free to check it out at: http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/learngrowplay

Good luck shopping!

PS Those barns sound great...I have always had this obsession with toy barns...

A person I know from an online community is making toys with another mom from the same community.

I can't blame them, can you? I have also been looking for them. I have found this website that lists a bunch of companies that manufacture toys in the US. Here is the link. http://www.madeinusa.org/nav.cgi?data/toys&

Good luck to you!!

Hi E.,

Not sure where you live, but a great place for "safe" toys is the Doll Hospital and Toy Soldier Shop in Berkley. They have a great website with directions, or if it's too far from you, you can order the toys online: http://www.reallygreattoys.com/dollhospital/

I think you'll be very pleased!

Best wishes!

Try the Hearthsong catalogue, The Rosie Hippos Catalogue, www.magiccabin.com, The Chinaberry Books Catalogue.
Do an internet search on "Waldorf Toys" for more online sites as well.
Forget shopping at Toys-R-Us, try The Doll Hospital and Toy Soldier Shop in Berkley.
Be open to the idea that well-made wooden toys far surpass most plastic and electronic toys.
Happy shopping!

E.,
You can look for a CE on the tag, or somewhere on the toy. The C means it passes California standards which are the best in the country, and E means it passes European standards which are the best in the world.
