Top Loading Washing Machine Recommendation....

We are in the market for a new washer and dryer... ours is the old traditional type and it's "dying". Not sure whether to go w/ another traditional/agitator/fill up with water type, or spend the extra money on the HE top loader with bigger capacity. Any experiences good or bad and/or recommendations are very much appreciated :)

Another vote for the Maytag Centennial. We've been really happy with it. It's energy-efficient but still cleans the clothes well.

My dad, who does all his own laundry since my mom died, LOVES his Kenmore HE large capacity from Sears. He's like a kid with a new toy when he talks about it. (-: It does not have an agitator. I bring my queen-sized comforter to his house for washing.

We have had a Maytag Bravo for the past three years. When we made our purchase it was the largest capacity, top loader available. MIT has been amazing an worth every penny! We are a family of six and I appreciate how much laundry it holds, as well as comforters, etc. The front loaders had issues with mold, so my SIL always left her door propped open with a tennis ball, so people would keep shutting it. This is easy to just leave the lid open. We are heavy laundry users, and do a minimum of two loads a day between sports and regular life. We recently had to make one repair call..a piece of underwire had come out of a bra and lodged between the wash tub. We are so not handy, but the repair person showed me how to unscrew the machine so I could fix myself in case of a similar incident. I know our machine made laundry much more manageable. Good Luck!

From Sears, we got the "Maytag Bravos XL."
LOVE it.
It is an HE top loader. With big capacity.
But because it is an HE washer, is uses less water. Up to 75% less water per load.

Look up the reviews.
I had decided on this model after reading the Consumer Reports issue on washing machines, which was done last August.
