Tooth Fairy - Plano,TX

My son lost his first tooth today. Luckily, I had a dollar coin set aside to be delivered by the tooth fairy. Now, my question is this - do you save the teeth or just throw them away? My husband looked at me like I was a strange creature when I put the tooth in a pill bottle and put it in the cabinet. When he asked what I planned to do with it, I didn't exactally have an answer, but I just wasn't wiling to throw it in the trash. So, what do you mamas do?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks for all the input. After searching on the internet, I found this organizer that can be scrapbooked. http://www.babytoothalbum.com/ I think I'll plan on getting that for the teeth, rather than keeping them in a pill bottle. I also found this, but didn't think my son would appreciate it. :) http://www.tfairy.com/toothbank.html

I loved this post! It made me laugh first thing this morning.

My daughter hasn't lost any yet. But I plan on keeping the first one only. I'll put it in her baby book in an envelope probably.

I have to say tho.... When my mother-in-law passed away and we started to clean her house, I've never seen so many teeth in my life!! (She had 3 children). After that experience, I would say "Throw them away for goodness sake!!!"

One is a novelty keepsake. The rest are just history!

Congrats on the first toothfairy visit. It's fun isn't it.

ABSOLUTEY! Keep it! I have one of my dogs teeth that she lost when she was little. My husband thinks I'm weird, but o well... We will always do things from time to time that makes them think that we are not sane and the truth is that we may not be. But, don't let anyone steal your glory. Save it by all means! Remember, you carried the baby, you care for it and you want to save the tooth. That is perfectly ok!

I've kept my daughter's teeth. We put them in a small envelope in her baby book.

It's funny you asked this question, because I was just having this conversation with my 4 year old daughter today. She, of course, hasn't lost her baby teeth yet and won't for a while, but she was curious about the tooth fairy and what happens to the teeth.

My Mom kept all of mine and just had the tooth sitting on my dresser the morning after the tooth fairy had left the $. I loved looking at my teeth as they grew in number. I kept them in a little tooth jar. In fact, I think that's why I became so interested in biology/sciences/etc. and later wanted to become a doctor.

So, I told my daughter that the tooth fairy comes to make sure she finds the tooth that came out, she leaves a surprise behind and the tooth to keep.

Hope this helps. Makes me giggle! Many Blessings - L.

I have all of my son's teeth. I don't know that I'll 'do' anything with them!

I have locks of hair from my kids' first haircuts...I don't think I'll 'do' anything with them either, but it's so wonderful to peek at that soft, fuzzy hair...

Keep 'em. :)

I saved the first one.

my mom saved ours.. so i've said my kids'... tho im curious, like you, to see what everyone else does with them!

I've been wondering about this too as I'm awaiting my son and his first tooth experience. He is 5 1/2 and I'm sure in the near future it will occur. M. I see your son is a month younger than mine. I guess I need to be on the look out this year. :-)

I really like the way Laura B handled this. Thanks for the suggestion Laura B. :-)

came in to see what the answers would be. I thought I was strange to want to keep my gchildren teeth. As I did not save my children teeth, never even thought about it. My oldest gd I saved her first tooth and made her a tooth shape pocket to put the tooth in to give it to the tooth fairy...

I thought it was just me wantting to keep my gkids teeth and found out I'm normal reading all of these other moms keeping thier kids teeth.

My future daughter in law told me that her mom kept her teeth too

so really I think you should do what you want to... whatever you feel comfy in doing..
