What to Do with the Baby Teeth?

My daughter lost her first baby tooth on Sunday. It was so exciting (and a little sad for me, she's growing up too fast). We talked about the tooth fairy and she put her tooth in a glass of water. During the night, the tooth fairy came, tapped the tooth with a magic wand, and turned it into a gold coin (Sacajawea dollar). Very cool..

Now, however, I don't know what to do with the tooth we've carefully hidden. It's part of the body... is it okay to throw it away? I just really don't want to save all of her teeth to carry with me the rest of my life, but I'd like to dispose of it in a nice way.

What does everyone else do?

What can I do next?

I have heard that it is being researched to see if when people need implants in their mouth they might start to use ones baby teeth. So I have decided I would keep my baby's teeth just incase. Hope this helps.

It can be thrown away in the trash like anything else that gets thrown in the trash. If it makes you feel more comfortable, you can take it with you to your next dental visit and have your dentist dispose of it instead. If you do throw it away in the trash, just make sure your little ones can't see it or find it in the trash.

<<< From someone who's sister works Missing Persons: Keep at least one tooth.

For the rest...you can donate them (they contain stem cells), bank them (same thing, but reserved for you in case your daughter develops certain diseases-it saves needing donors and transplants-but it costs), throw them out, lose them, or give them away to doting grandparents. (We're doing that with two teeth...with a card that says: From one tooth fairy to another...love etc. with the year and age of their grandson). Or, of course, a combo of all of the above.

Hi! J.;
Does your little girl have a baby birth book?
Sometimes theres an actual pages in them where you just envelope them in..and if yours doesnt have one, just get a nice enveope and put childs name and baby teeth on it..Save them this way..or do a collage pic. and show here with and with out the tooth..Then there are some jewelery companies that make the tooth into a regular little charms..for a mammas necklace or bracelet..
These are precious and part of the childs milestones..
Take Care and Have a great day..

You could flush them down the toilet. Honestly, I kept my kids' baby teeth. I have them in their own little envelopes in a drawer in my jewelry box. I kept a lock of their hair from their first haircuts as well. I'm a sentimentalist. Four years old is pretty young to be losing their baby teeth. Do you see the permanent tooth at the edge of the gum where the tooth was? You might want to see the dentist to see if the permanent teeth are down. Most kids don't start losing their baby teeth until they're 6 to 7 years old. Check in with your dentist just to make sure. They grow up way too fast!!!!

I keep my kids' baby teeth, but you could bury it somewhere special in the yard under a tree or in a flower garden. Just an idea. It seems weird to just "throw it out". Good luck!

Did u ever buy or recieve one of those sets when she was a baby that has a lil container of sorts for a lock of hair and a first tooth?
If not I would just put it in a snack baggy and put it in her baby book or memory box.
I don't plan to keep all my daughters teeth either but I do plan to keep the first one at least so it's there for her book/box.
