I'm wondering if any of you out there have some ideas for party food for a 2 year birthday party. I'd like to food to be at least somewhat pleasing for both kids and adults and I'd prefer for most/all of it to be cold, so neither my husband nor I will have to run around trying to keep stuff warm.

do you want more snack type foods or "real food"?

fruit salad is always good.
maybe mini sandwiches? you could have different meats, cheeses, etc. get one of those things that cut sandwiches into 4 pieces?
some kind of noodle salad
do you have a crock pot? you can look up some crock pot party food. that way, it just stays warm in the pot. you wouldn't have to worry too much about heating it up.
mini wraps instead of sandwiches...get a bunch of tortillas and wrap different ingredients in them

kids love cheese and crackers with toothpicks. sounds silly but they think its very cool. you can make any of those appetizers that have bread in them or crackers.. finger foods. taquitoes are good too.. mini pizzas. have to cook once.. don't worry about warming.

I always do a mix at our parties.
Last year at my 3 y/o's party I fired up the grill.

I had fruit salad, reg salad, munchies out.
For kids I put some hot dogs and hamburgers on, and I made kabob's for adults..

we've done Pizza parties (both make you own for the kids and pre made delivery)

Taco bars are usually pretty popular for all ages too!

Hi K.,

I find that Pasta can work for both children and adults. It makes plenty, tasty, and not expensive.

Hope that bit of information helps?

Good luck!

Hello,

Veggie cups- take little dixie cups and put a squirt of ranch dressing in the bottom. Fill the cup up with cut veggies- carrots, celery ect.. THe kids take the entire cup...its veggie and dip all in one place.

My son loves any kind of jello jiggler...you could cut them out in a shape that goes with the theme of your birthday party to make it kind of fun

PB&J sandwich- make a regualr PB&J sandwhich then use cookie cutter to cut it into fun shapes. Again, could tie bakc to the theme of the party. ( for adults you could have a meat and cheese platter and they can make their own sandwiches)

Pizza is always a easy one for kids and parents

Fruit is easy- grapes, strawberries...things that are easy to eat and hold for little fingers.

You could have pitas and dips- like humus- for adults

Pasta Salads are easy and will sit. Most any shape pasta, add some chopped veggies and just a store bought ITalian dressing.

I guess it kind of depends on how much you want to do...or how much work you want to leave to the grocery store. Food Network website is a great place to look for recipies that are fun and easy.

Have a great party.
