Toaster Oven - Allen,TX
Ok, so totally stupid question.....
I never grew up with a toaster oven but seems EVERYONE owns one. What is so great about a toaster oven? How do you use one and what types of things do you put in there? Do you only heat food or do you actually bake things? Should I own one too? What is the best one out there that I should own if I buy one??
Thanks!!!!

My grandmother got everyone in the family a toaster oven for Christmas years ago, literally 15 yrs ago. And we have all gone through several.
As far as what do we cook in there? EVERYTHING!
Cakes, pizza, ribs, pork chops, roast, cookies...
No need to heat up the big oven.

I love my toaster oven! It's Kitchen Aid, about 4 yrs old and one of the best $200 I ever spent!!
I cook in it so I don't heat the oven. I've made fish, cornbread, meatloaf, etc as well as baking potatoes, other veggies, etc.
It's also good to reheat pizza and other things.
My hubb thought I was crazy when I bought it and now if it went out on us, we'd have a new one within 24 hrs.
My 17 yr old daughter uses it a lot too. We use the regular taoster for toast.
Love it!!

I don't get them either. I never had one growing up. We are renting a town home now and my landlord lived here before us and she has one built in. I have never once used it.

I never had one either until a few years ago. I thought it would be a better option than heating my large oven to make a frozen pizza for lunch. It did not live up to my expectations. It just didn't function well as a miniature oven.
So it is currently packed away in my attic. I probably should have donated it but I felt it was too big a waste of money so I should try to sell it off. It's been sitting up there a few years so I ought to just donate it :-(

I asked the same thing if you want to look back at my questions. =)
I do have one and I mostly use it to bake biscuits so I don't have to heat the oven. Since its so small, I mostly use it on the weekends when its just me and hubs and the kids are at our ex's house. Otherwise, besides the biscuits, you can't really "cook" a large amount in it.
Good luck!

My kids love to use it! I think it is safer than the regular oven. They can make their own pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, baked potatoes, etc. I have done a roasted chicken and beef. With mine, I can broil also. I use it for anything small enough to fit instead of heating the whole oven. I have never used it for baking.

Love toaster ovens. Reheat pizza, bagels that are too fat for toaster. You
cannot bake in it, at least I have never done that. I cook pot pies in it.
I used to hate turning the oven on for small things that need to be heated up.
Once you own one, you will wonder how you went this long without one.
