To Get a Double Stroller or Not to Get a Double Stroller?

We got a double stroller, nothing fancy just a Graco so I don't know if it will fit the Chico carrier. It doesn't do well on rugged terrain or soft dirt but I do use it to jog on paved paths, sidewalks, and streets and it works. When they were littler my son wanted to walk but I would tell them mommy needs to run and as soon as I'm done we will go to the park so you can play. The park happens to be 4 houses down so it's convenient.

Fast forward, they are almost 4 and 6 and they still go in it because they want to be with me and I let them run on part of the path and still go to the park. I also rollerblade with them...lol. My kids have started bike riding so I don't get as good of a jog in but we are working on it. On the days they bike ride, I will do a run with and without them. =)

Sooo...no rugged terrain but it works and is still going... =)

I got a double stroller for the exact reason you did. Yeah, by the time the newborn was old enough to go jogging with me the two year old was old enough to voice his opinion he didn't want to be in a stroller. I think I used it five times before I sold it. :(

I think it depends on the person...my double was a waste of my money...although I sold it for a decent amount. My kids didn't sit in strollers well and I hated the hassel of pushing them around...But some people love them...I did however love that our double was a jogging stroller for when we did use it on grass it pushed like a dream

I love my strollers and I also like having different strollers for different uses. I have had two different double strollers and I loved having them. I used a Peg Perego side by side double that could hold the infant carrier. I loved it, although as my girls got older the stroller seemed to be less sturdy. My girls were small (they were 2 1/2 years apart) and I was doubtful that it could actually carry two 40 pound children like it claimed. But it worked well for us until the younger one got to about 2 years old. Then I got a Chicco Side by side stroller (I don't think they sell that one anymore) and I loved it! It was much sturdier, although it would not hold the infant car seat.

But, if you love your strollers now I would say that you will probably enjoy using a double.

Yes. And I want a triple. My four soon to be five are all close in age. But I could only ever put 1 (the toddler) in the stroller, along with the baby. The preschoolers hold onto the handles. And I didn't want a tank! So a double was as big as it got. I can't imagine not having and using my double.

I loved my double stroller. I used it to take the kids to lunch, to go shopping at Walmart, to go to the county fair, to go for walks, everything. I put the bigger kid in the front and the baby in the back.

Once they got bigger I was ablt to switch them around more. The bigger one could sit in the back section and read a book leaning back or play a game, do all sorts of stuff. The baby could be in the front and see the world.

I used the basket parts on the bottom for the groceries and other stuff.

I loved our sit and stand! My first 2 are 3 years apart. It gave the older one somewhere to sit when the day got long and he got tired but he didn't have to stay in it. We didn't get it until our youngest as sitting more because it does not fully recline and we never bought an infant car seat so we never used the adapters it comes with. When he was too little I would carry one or the other in the sling while the other rode in the single when needed. We didn't use the stroller for anything but long days or if I was going to be doing things like trying on clothes or something where I could not hold anyone. It had pretty good steering for a double stroller, we got it around on all sorts of terrain and all sorts of places.

Things will change when you have 2 little ones.. the jogging stroller will likely get dusty from lack of use..

What you need is a way to safely move 2 kids around.. it doesnt have to be fancy.. just safe.. you cant have your active 2 year old running around in a parking lot when you are loading up the newborn.

My kids are 18 months apart.. we got a graco duoglide.. it is heavy.. nto the easiest thing to push.. but we used it.. and it kept them safe.. we used it for over 2 years.. .. bit if 2 parents were going someplace with 2 kids.. we took 2 single strollers.. easier to push...

My two are 20 months apart and I don't think I could have done it without some type of double stroller. I guess it depends on your lifestyly. It was a lifesaver when I had to contain the older one while changing/feeding the baby when we were out. The best experience was when we were at a Chuck E Cheeses type place. I didn't bring in the double stroller because it was an "easy" trip. Dragged us all to the bathroom to change the baby. The changer was in the handicap stall. As I was wiping the baby I heard splashing. Turned around and my 2 year old was splashing around with his hands in the toilet. Lovely!

How about the Phil and Ted's stroller with the doubles kit? It is $350 through Costco online. Shipping and handling included. It is fairly rugged and versatile, and it has a relatively good resale value. You can even attach the Chicco carrier to it.

It seems a little awkward to me to have the older kid underneath the younger kid. But hey, it's Costco, so if you don't like it, you can always return it. Good luck!
