Get a great cut. I have straight, fine, stringy hair. I can't keep my hair too long or it just looks pitiful. Coloring you hair also adds body. You don't have to do anything drastic- some semi-permanent color will give it a boost.

I've heard that biotin really helps. Vitamin orally, or shampoo? Google it? Haven't tried, though, because a possible side effect is acne. Also Rogaine for women, but it's expensive. Good luck!

Biotin supplement. I'm acne-prone and for me, I've never noticed more breakouts while on it. I love the stuff.

I started using really excellent cellular nutrition - I did it for overall health and to stop being sick all the time with colds, bronchitis, flu and allergies, but a side benefit was my hair is much thicker and has stopped falling out. My hairdresser noticed the change as well, and my hair stands up much better to coloring than it ever did. I have fine hair (vs. coarse) but I have a lot of it. I can see the difference in my hairbrush and my shower drain too - just not much there at all. I've learned a lot about this over the years and it's made a huge difference in my family's life. You should see my husband's hair too!

My hair is fine and has gotten thing over the years. I've tried having below the ear length hair and think that short hair, just to the ear lobe or even a bit shorter is more flattering. My beautician layers my hair somewhat which seems to add the appearance of some body.

I also have to wash it more often. At the least, every other day. Otherwise it flattens out. And I use a very small amount of gel in damp hair before blow drying.

I've wanted a different style and have let my hair grow again and am about to go get it cut. Sigh! I so wanted long hair in a flip when I was in school. Just did not happen.

Hi R.!

I have fine thin hair. Try using Main 'N Tail shampoo AND conditioner (it is meant for animals, but people can use it too). You may have to look in the pet section to find it (like in Walmart) but I can find it in the regular section in grocery and drug stores. My stylist recommended it and said that, in her opinion, it helps hair to feel thicker and also grow faster - but you have to use both the shampoo and the conditioner. I use it and I like it. It does seem to help. I think I used it for a couple months before I could tell a difference. Also, it is good because it will not strip the color out of your hair if it is colored.

Try some root lifting or thickening hair products. I have found that the more expensive ones are actually worth the money. Right now I have some Got2B products (mousse and hair spray) - the collagen infused ones - and I like them. The product I had before the Got2B one was made by aveeno - some kind of volumizing foam spray. It was good too.

Also, as some of the other mommas recommended, get a good hair cut which is suitable for your hair type. Coloring it does help.

Good luck!
Cyndi
