Temper Mattress or Sleep Number Mattress

Has this been asked before ? So here is my question. The Temp mattress is so so so comfortable in the store. Try it for 90 days then money back. Hmmmm..... it teaches you to sleep "right" for your back and give you support. But if your a side sleeper or tummy sleeper then I would assume you will start to have aches and pains for adjusting to a new way to sleep which is what is asked of us when investing in these type of products.
Does anyone have these type of beds.... did anyone try one for 90 days and decide it did not help ? Do you love it ?

thanks

What can I do next?

I've never had either, but I do know that the temperpedic is full of chemicals and off gases a lot. So if you are chemical sensitive, do some research on that. I had a temperpedic pillow probably 15 year ago, and after 5 or so years, it started to separate into two pieces. I know someone else who had the same problem. The technology could very well be much better at this point. Read the fine print on the warranty very carefully.

I know two couples with the sleep number bed. One couple has the dual chambers so that each person can have their own setting; the thing that sucks about that one, is that there is a hard part between the two of you so you can't cuddle easily. I would HATE that.

I love my temp! Would never go to anything else now! There is a slight smell to it when it is new but it wares off.

We have a memory foam mattress (Tempurpedic knock-off we bought at Cosco) and we absolutely love it. It is so weird that we actually don't look forward to vacations as much as we used to, because we miss our bed so much! My husband thrashes around in his sleep and I'm very still--this is the only bed we've ever slept on that I'm not woken up by him several times a night. I wake up feeling good with no aches and pains--not the case when I sleep away from home! I don't know much about the sleep number mattress so can't really comment on that. Good luck in your search for the perfect night's sleep!

We hated our sleep number--just a very uncomfortable air mattress. It cost us $400 to return it.

Hello! When I was shopping for mattresses a few years back, I decided against the temper mattress. While it did adjust to shape, it changed back really slowly when changing positions. So when rolling over one would have to lie in the previous dents for a while until it had adjusted again. Of course, this was just my impression from the store, so a true user could comment better. On the other hand, I have two sets of friends with sleep number beds, who would swear by them and just love them. One of them has fibromalgia and experienced almost instant improvement when she got it then. When we are back in the market, the sleep number bed will be something we will look at, but we will have to do all of our research way in advance and be ready for one of their sales. Once one adds up all the necessary bits and pieces, the retail price is a bit steep, no matter how good they are.

Hope this helps!

My husband and I loved our Tempurpedic mattress so much we bought some for our children. I'm a tummy/side sleeper and it's still great. The best part is that one of us can toss and turn and there's no mattress movement to wake the other up (blanket issues...that's another story).

I will say this, though. Our mattress is now over 10 years old and is getting too squishy. I think the foam is worn out. Just as soon as we can afford it, we'll be buying another one.

Like a previous poster, I don't enjoy sleeping in hotels as much because the mattresses aren't as good as home. On the other hand, our "staycations" are fantastic!

Good luck!

LOVE our Temperpedic! We've had it 2 1/2 years? I am hot blooded any way and at 'that age' but don't feel I'm any warmer on the mattress than not.

We only tried the sleep number in the store and I didn't like it. In my opinion it was just like a camping air mattress. And on the King size there is a big bump in the middle because it's 2 baffles pushed together.

I have heard of a love or hate the temperpedic but I have only heard love about the sleep number. My parents have the sleep number and love it. They are super achy people, so if it works for them.. LOL

My husband works for mattress firm warehouse here in Orlando (we are from PHX originally) but if you are talking about the temperpedic I would have to say I hate ours! It's like sleeping on the floor to me but he loves it. I think it's one of those beds you love or hate but with as much as they cost be sure you love it!

We had a Sleep Number (dual air chambers) and we HATED it. It was less than three years old when we both admitted to each other that our backs, hips and legs were in pain in the morning.
We just bought a traditional inner spring mattress and put it on our new platform box (drawers underneath) but if we could afford it, we would love the Tempurpedic.
The salesman at the store told us some people can't sleep on them, they feel they get too warm for them. I'd still buy one if I could though.

Everyone! I know who has either tried or bought the sleep number has hated it. My husband says our Coleman air mattress is better. One of the hotels he stayed at had one and he ended up sleeping on the floor it was hurting his back so much.

Our current mattress has the tempurpedic topper built in. I love it. My next one will be a straight up tempurpedic.

We've had two different Sleep Number beds over the last 8 years. I've loved both of them (the reason we bought a new one is that we wanted a King size vs. our Queen). I saw that other people who responded to your question hated their Sleep Numbers, so that makes me wonder what models they had and whether they took the time to figure out what their true sleep numbers were. My husband and I have both suffered back injuries that have left us unable to walk, but our Sleep Number beds have truly helped to minimize and/or avoid back pain. I even loved that when I was pregnant, I could adjust the bed in order to be more comfortable. I also really love that though I like a softer bed and my husband prefers a more firm one, we can sleep together in the same bed. Bottom line, I will never go without a Sleep Number bed again!

We just got our new mattress from www.Saatvamattress.com. If you decide to go with an innerspring type, I can not recommend this enough! About half the cost of a comparable mattress and the process was so easy. I actually had an email answered by the CEO on a Saturday afternoon! So you know they are committed to customer service. We would love a Tempurepedic, but considering that the Saatva mattress is about a third of the cost, we went with the Saatva and are glad we did!

We bought a TemperPedic because after having our two kids my back was a wreck! I am a back sleeper but my husband is a stomach/side sleeper. I LOVE IT!! My husband is indifferent...since he didn't have a problem beforehand. I still have back pain occasionally when I have had a strenuous day but NOTHING like before. My husband doesn't LOVE his pillow...we are looking into a different one for him.
We would both highly recommend this bed....
Also, in reference to "off gases"...we had no problems...with the bed or the pillows...at all!
