Teething Issues....

My daughter is 6 months old and has been getting really fussy at the same time every day. between 4-7pm she is screaming. It sounds like a pain cry. I have tried everything to soothe her and calm her down and nothing seems to work. The rest of the day she is fine but between those hours she sounds like she is in horrible pain. I am guessing she is teething. She has been biting down on everything and drolling a lot. Is there anything I can do besides orjel and teething rings??

What can I do next?

frozen fruit is also good for teething just have to watch and make sure she dosent break of a big chunk also my kids when they were babies and going threw teething I bought a gum cleaner which comes usually in a pack along with a toothbrush I got mine at babies R us I let them chew on the gum cleaner they were less fussy I also noticed they loved to chew on a wet wash cloth I know a friend of mine used to give her son a bag of frozen peas to chew on at least until he got teeth in that would rip the bag another friend gave her daughter frozen ice packs . hope this helps out

My daughter (now 9) had HORRIBLE teething issues. NOTHING worked except Hyland's Teething Tablets and Gel. They were a God send once we finally found them. They are available online and at most health food stores.

Good luck!

Hi C.,

Im sorry your little one is uncomfortable. I would think that teething pain would occur at all times of the day, not just between 4-7pm. Maybe she's just over tired? Possibly teething at the same time and being over tired on top of it just makes her feel awful. Does she nap at all during the day? When my kids were teething, Id wet a wash cloth and freeze it for a while then let them chew on it. Sometimes Id give them the frozen mini bagels and just watch to make sure they dont bite off a large piece. Orajel never really helped my kids, but a small dose of tylenol on a bad night really helped alot !
Good luck.

Hi, My son's teething pain was worst at night, and the only thing that helped was baby Motrin--suggested by someone from Mamasource! It lasts up to 8 hrs, so he actually got to sleep through the night because of it--tylenol would wear off after 4 hrs and he'd wake up--

hope that helps.

Try giving your daughter a toddler toothbrush with Orajel on it. This gives her something to chew on while the orajel relieves the pain. My 16 month old daughter has been doing this ever since her first tooth and its the only thing she likes when her teeth are hurting her! You can also try using the little gum cleansers that come with the baby toothpaste. Just apply orajel and slip it onto your finger. Any questions, just ask!

try and use a little bit of whisky by using you're finger and rubbing it on his gums.

You can put the frozen fruit or a hard veggie like carrots into the little baby food bag contraptions and let her chew on it which will prevent her from getting any real pieces off of it to choke on. I can't remember the brand, but they sell them in the area with spoons and dishes and stuff. Maybe "munchkin" brand?? They are little mesh bags that flip open and they have a plastic loop handle for them to hold - almost shaped like a pacifer, but the bag is soft and doesn't hold a shape like a pacifer nipple.

I usually reserved it for teething that interupted sleep, but you can do a low dose of tylonol to help take the edge off to sleep better if that becomes a problem. I'm sure it works during the day too, but I always like to try non-med solutions first if possible.

Back to the food options - you could try a "biter biscuit." You do have to watch as they do eventually break off into pieces, but they are nice and hard for chewing at first.
