Target Photo Studio

We had an almost identical experience at the Target photo studio at the Target on the Tollway in Plano. I had 6 mo. old twins w/ me, and the girl was terrible. She couldn't have been out of high school and had absolutely no idea how to get the kids to look at her or anything. It was a DISASTER. We have only gone to Penny's at Stonebriar since then and, until last time, had great experiences. Please post how your experience at Portrait Innovations is - We may switch!

We had my sons 2 month pictures done at Portrait Innovations in Plano and had a really good experience. We had the first appointment of the day which was nice. We did not feel rushed at all. She took over 100 shots of my son to be sure we got some good ones and we changed him twice. Hope you have a good experience as well. It is best to make an appointment even though they do walk-ins. The first appointment of the day is good if you can swing it.

I would avoid the Picture People at Stonebriar in Frisco at all costs. The girl put my almost 2 year old on the mat and said, "okay" - and just pointed the camera at her. I about passed out, that was ridiculous! We always go to Portrait Innovations, and they did a good job at the one in Plano. Good luck!!!!

And I thought I was probably the only one! First, they gave us 10 minutes to take pictures with a 3 month old and second the pictures came back and you could see the photographers handprints on all the pics where she squeezed my son's arms when trying to pose him.
They gave me my money back for the ones where her hands on his arms were evident but I thought I should have got a refund because the pics weren't good at all for what they wanted to charge me.
I won't be going back.

I'll tell you where I had a GREAT experience... JC Penney at the NorthEast Mall.... they were friendly... had lots of props to get the little guys to engage.... made faces, coo'd... you name it... I got the sheets for $3.99 EACH (had a coupon) and joined their club so there were no sitting fees. That's where I'll go back... they even did stuff away from their standard "posed" shots (because I don'treally like them)... like I got a picture of me and my sons hugging.... one of my son and I cheek to cheek hugging.... just fun shots that aren't "ordinary".... just don't be afraid to ask for different shots....

Thanks for posting! I was considering giving them a try, too. I wonder if the Target in Flower Mound would be the same?

I haven't used them, but several of my friends swear by the BabiesRUs studio there on FM3040. I have one friend who is super picky and she takes her daughter there about once every 6 weeks and does a ton of poses, etc. and she said they are always really great. This is second hand knowledge, though, as I haven't used them - you can't make appointments, it's first come first serve and everytime I've been, the line is too long to attempt with a squirmy toddler.

I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience! I hope the Plano experience is better. It should be a requirement that if you're going to photograph kids, you should also have them, so you "get it" a little better. Good luck!

I had a bad experience at that Target also, I was having my kids Easter pictures made and they used backgrounds that were just horrible, they weren't posed right, she took the picture when they had goofy looks on their faces, none of them were even close to be good so I didn't buy any. We used to go to the Plano one and had wonderful pictures taken they were so professional, and I was glad to have a studio open in Lewisville because it's close to home, what a disappointment!

I've had my son's pictures done at the Target in Hurst as well as the one in Euless....they are actually the only place I've used, and Andrew is almost 3 now...so I've had nothing but good experiences. But thanks for the "warning" because Lewisville is closer to me and we may have wanted to try them this year but not anymore :)

I wish I would have seen this post before I took my daughter there in May. They were very rude, uninterested, the backdrops were filthy and the only pictures that turned out half way decent were the ones I posed her and talked to her so she would smile. The lady wanted nothing to do with trying to make her smile which I thought was SO strange! And to top it all off...my pictures were bent when I picked them up! Ugh!
I am going to try portrait inovations!

Sorry about your bad experience! WE have had GREAT luck at Portrait Innovations (in Colleyville). You will love them! And, their camera is a digital hand-held one, so the photographer can move around and get the best shot! And, their pricies are fabulous! Good luck!

Portrait Innovations is wonderful! Just make sure you get an appointment. I took my daughter's one month pics there and they were GREAT! You will hopefully have a much better experience than Target and get more pics at a better price!

First, Portrait Innovations is GREAT!!! I highly recommend them for anyone who has a wiggly baby/toddler. They are THE BEST and they are much more affordable than their competition.

The problem with Target, JCP, and Sears is that they have VERY high turnover. I had some FABULOUS pictures taken at Target in Plano when my son was very young, but as soon as that one particular stellar employee left, it's been hit and miss ever since. http://www.labsandsoccer.com/kaionemonthtarget.html

My best advice is to COMPLAIN if you have a bad experience and ALWAYS make your appointment with the MANAGER!!! I practically refuse to go when a newbie is training because I end up knowing more than the employee.

If you find someone good at Target, JCP, and Sears, make sure you write down their name. Good help is hard to find and that extends to photo places.
