Tall but Definitely Not Big Shirt for Tall Twin Teens (Boy and Girl)

We have a very long torso in our family, and shirts tend to be too short. My boy/girl twins are only 13 and having trouble finding comfy t-shirts that fit them. They would both normally wear an adult small as they are thin, but the shirts aren't long enough. My son likes very soft t-shirts like Hollister makes, with some kind of graphic. He hates shopping, so it's a challenge to get him to go to the store at all, much less try going store to store. My daughter likes t-shirts and has trouble finding camis that are long enough to wear under other shirts. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

My first thought was Duluth Trading Company. They're a "grown-up" company but they have super cool stuff (like my Smallet!) including t-shirts and button downs with extra long tails "no more plumber's crack".

The Gap has talls that can be ordered online. We've got the same problem with our youngest. Didn't seem too bad when he was younger, but all of a sudden I've noticed that his shirts barely touch his the waist of his pants. Ian is about 6'5" and he maybe weighs 170 lbs with that very long torso. Unfortunately, not many of the printed graphic shirts come in talls.

Another source is to look at the Men's Wearhouse. They have alot of really great looking shirts. Might be able to find something there. I found that the talls at places like Penneys and Sears were for old and huge men, nothing for the younger crowd. Good luck. D.

I was 5'10" when I was 13... and a LONG torso! I can completely relate! Now, I'm 6'0", and I have learned what works, what doesn't, etc. My favorite and only place that I get cami's are at The Buckle (if you don't have one there, they do have a website). The Buckle has Long length cami's and ALL sorts of colors and styles. they are reasonably priced and last forever (I hang dry most of my clothes for fear of "shrinkage", so I don't know how they would do in the dryer). the cami's specifically say "long"... some are even "lean and long" which sounds like the perfect "size" for your daughter... LOVE them! Good luck!

I know they're cheap, but Old Navy has always run long on me. I'm 5'4" with a relatively short build, and I've actually been using Old Navy tshirts and cami's during my pregnancy! They normally don't fit me because they're too long, as most of their stuff is on me, but with my expanding belly (I'm 38 weeks) they're perfect. Something to think about....

American Eagle tends to run longer in length in their shirts. Also try Delia's for your daughter and you might try the Massimo line at Target the camis and tanks are usually longer in length.

Target had thick strapped tanks that are long (I'm short; these cover my butt!)... I have them in every color, maybe try those? My BFF is very tall and swears by Old Navy shirts (and she has huge boobs, so length is a must!)

I've had very good luck at Aeropostle (sp?). Their stuff seems to be much longer & leaner cut. They can be a little pricey, but if you catch them during sales & sign up for their newsletters online you can get coupons emailed to you.

Our family feels your pain! :) Both my husband and I are 6'2" and our twins are 10 years old now. One is 'only' 5 feet, but the other boy is now 5'3". At 10! We have many large clothes in our future.

But how does this relate to you? Check out some of the clothes on the Old Navy web site. While their stores very rarely carry tall items, their web site offers a full line of tall jeans, shirts and lots of others.

It's hard to find, but it can be done. Right now, I mostly buy sizes ahead and figure they will grow into them. Good luck!!!

I second the Gap. I am 5'9" with an average torso and I ordered a tall shirt once and it was even a little too long for me- so I would think they would definitely be long enough. I think their regular shirts are fairly long in women's, I don't know about mens as my husband doesn't like the Gap and my kids are still in the baby/boy's dept. You can also order talls from Old Navy.
