Hi ladies, I know I am going to get alot of negative feedback regarding this but I have to find out if there are any other moms facing the same situtation. My son is 7 months and I just put him no Organic whole milk. I slowly put him on it and this entire week he has been on it. He has had normal bowel movements and has not spit or threw up at all. I think it is good and bad. My husband told me to keep him on it, but I feel guilty, feeling like I am cheating him of other things. I give him his vitamins and baby food with the nutrients that he needs but I need help and moms that has done the same thing. I did that with my daughter at around the same age and she took it well also. The reason why I changed him is because the formula was not holding him at all. I even tried the older formula. Please I don't need any negative help. If you do not agree that is fine, have decretion in your comments.

So What Happened?

Thank you ladies for all of your input. My son has been on the organic milk and he is perfect. He has not spit up at all. He is having better bowel movements and he is sleeping more like the doctor said he should. The only thing is I had to increase all of his vitamin intake with vitamins and more iron foods. All babies are different and I appreciate all of your help and positive feedback.

Hi C., Have you talked to your pediatrician about this? I'm not sure, but I thought that the reason doctors recommended waiting until the baby is 1 yr old is because they can develop lactose intolerance if introduced too soon. It sounds like your baby is okay, but I think I might ask the pediatrician to make sure. Good luck!

Hi C.,

This is not meant to be negative, but I am confused at what you mean by the milk not holdiing him? At seven months he should be increasing his amount of baby cereal and baby food. Do you have him on solids? His formula intake will go down a little with the introduction of these and that is normal. If he is stil hungry give him more food or feed him more often (both cereal and formula) during the day. He should be spoon feeding at this point. I can't beleive your son will be any fuller from milk than formula, when formula has more fat to fill up on. There is a reason for babies to not have regular milk until their first year, please talk to your pediatrician before taking him off.

Hi, C.. Please don't take this as a negative comment, but some helpful info for your baby's health.
Like Melanie said, you should talk to your pediatrician. The reason why they recommentd feeding cow's milk to babies older than one year old is because the protain in cow's milk can cause a low-grade inflammation in the intestinal lining. I have read that although the irritaion is not enought to trigger pain or vomitting, it does cause microscopic bleeding in the baby's intestines (because their intestinal lining is not fully matured.) If the blood loss goes on long enough and he is not consuming any iron-containing foods or supplement, he could get profound anemia.
It sounds like you are giving him vitamin supplements and baby food, but you should ask your ped. about this. If he thinks it is okay, then you can keep giving your baby the whole milk with supplements.

Good luck.

Could you please explain why the formula is not "holding" him? Is that related to poor sleep, frequent feedings, spitting up? I'm sure a lot of moms could help with a little more info.
