So ... we're looking to purchase a swing set for our back yard. We just moved and actually have a yard to put one in. :-) We'd like to get one of the wooden kinds. We're not trying to spend thousands ... however, we don't want it to be splintery and look horrid in a year or two. Can anyone recommend what you've purchased and where and how has it held up for you?

Thanks for any and all suggestions/recommendations.

I second the Costco, Sams idea. We purchased one 2 years ago from Costco and it still looks great and has held up well. We got a huge one with slide, fort, sand area and picnic table underneath with 3 swings and monkey bars for around $1200 which is a bargain. It takes 2 full days to put together, but doable.

We went through the search last month. If you know people who are pretty handy with tools, patient, and strong, you may want to consider getting one from Sam's Club, Costco, or Home Depot. They have good prices, but you have to put them together yourself.

We looked at several places, and they were all too expensive to buy one new. We finally got a demo model from Rainbow Play Systems. They still have the demo sale going on now. They are still expensive, but you get a significant discount and the price includes installation. Well worth it for us!

S.,
We actually just purchased the Durango model from WalMart. With shipping and delivery it was just over $600. I can't really tell you how well it will hold up over the years, however I have seen many backyards with the same set. It also sells out super fast, so if you want one you should order it asap. You can check it out on the WalMart website. Good luck!

Hi S.,
If you do decide to purchase one and need someone to put it up for you call Greg Gilchrist. His number is ###-###-####. He has done a couple for some of the mamasource moms. I think it costs somewhere between $200-$500 to have them put up depending on how large it is so keep that in mind when you are purchasing one.
