St Charles North High School teaches swim lessons during the summer. They start registration April 9. Groups are 2-3 students to 1 instructor. The instructors are the HS Swin Team kids. My kids progressed well last year in 2 different sessions. Sessions run 2 weeks each, it's daily class for those 2 weeks. There are 4 sessions during the summer.

I suggest Googling your 'Parks and Recreation/S.Elgin'...they should offer some American Red Cross Swimming lessons.

If nothing else they might be able to point you in the direction of a good 1:1 instructor.

If you are willing to travel to Batavia or North Aurora, I would recommend Swim With Bill. Everyone we met recommended them and my 4 year old loves their classes. swimwithbill.com

Although it may be located too far from you, I recommend Chicago Swim School (www.chicagoswimschool.com).They have locations in Arlington Heights, Oswego, and Glenview. My daughter has been going to the Arlington Heights location since last summer, and is doing great. The class sizes are small (4 kids per teacher), and it's at an indoor, heated pool. It is a bit pricey, but worth it to us. We originally started her at our park district, but she didn't seem to be learning much. We are very glad we switched.

All 4 of my kids have gone through ISR and it is fantastic! My youngest will be doing it again this summer. It teaches kids survival skills along with swimming. You can go to their website and see if there is an instructor in your area: http://www.infantswim.com/instructors/index.html
