Hello,

Anyone have any suggestions on a soothing crib toy/object I can place in my daughter's crib (or hook on)? I'd like to find something that can help her drift off to sleep----so far the only thing that looks good is the Bright Starts Dream Drifter.

Thank you!
-R.

Both my kids, liked the Fisher Price "Ocean Wonders" crib toy/musical toy.
And they'd turn it on themselves or turn it off when they were done, if they didn't fall asleep by then.

Or, instead of something entertaining them, we'd have baby safe stuffed toys in the crib with our kids. They loved that. They'd entertain themselves, and found it cozy and comfy to have "friends" in the crib with them... and for my son, one of the stuffed toys became his "lovey" that he'd hug and sleep with.
But, it was from about 6 months old, that we'd have those stuffed toys in the crib with them.

Or, put on white noise.
Keep everything dark, when the baby naps or sleeps.
Also, some babies will just fall asleep on their own, playing with their fingers or babbling to themselves first, and whatnot. Its a way that a baby winds-down and falls asleep. Both my kids did that too.

But many times, a baby won't fall asleep right away the second their head hits the pillow... it can take time. BUT, if the baby is doing fine sort of self-soothing/babbling to themselves to drift off to sleep, that is fine too. Let them. Falling asleep, is not always a "quiet" still as a statue sort of thing, with a baby.

But, with both my kids, the Ocean Wonders toy was something they really liked and it lasted a LONG time and grew with them.

Good luck,
Susan

my daughter needed help to sleep because she was sick and had very bad stomach pains for three months when she was a baby. what helped her was a sound machine with background sounds like ocean and others. I pick the white noise humming and that worked and you can leave it on all night because its electric (no batteries). She still uses it today and is 15. She sleeps so fast and nothing wakes her up in the middle of the night. Try it, you will love it and so will your baby. I think you can buy them at walmart and target.

im not exactly sure of the brand but my son has a little plush giraffe that winds up and plays soft lullabies and he loves to snuggle with it for nap and bed time.

I third the oceans aquarium by Fisher Price (I think that's the name, it's been quite awhile). We used it in both our children's cribs from infantcy until they moved to a big bed. We had an older version which is now about 4 or 5 years old. I don't know what the newer version features. The version we had played soothing music that would go off after awhile. It also had a light and bubbles that made a rhythmic soothing sound that would work with or without the music. (My kids would lay in the crib and press the music/bubbles button with their feet to make it play again and again.) As I recall, there were different settings so you could turn the bubbles off if you wanted, make the music play shorter/longer in "sleep" mode, change the music, etc. It also had knobs that the baby could play with to make the fish move. I could hear our kids playing with it via the monitor. It was a good indicator of when they had drifted off to sleep or when they had awoken. I highly recommend anything similar. Hope this helps.

I have the Best crib toy ever! It's the Fisher Price sweet dreams fish tank.
It's a hook on toy that looks like a fish tank. IT has a moving fish, crab and seaweed. It also has soothing lights and soft classical music. My daughter loves this toy. It has a large button right on the front so when she would wake in the middle of the night she would push the button and then fall back asleep. It was really comforting to her. Plus it comes with a remote so you can turn it back on if you are outside her door so you don't have to go back into her room. Great, GReat toy!
