Stroller Advice - Elmhurst,IL

I'm looking for a strong, sturdy single stroller that will accomodate a Graco Snugride carseat but will also last past the car seat stage. I had a Graco stroller (actually, both a single and a double) for my first two children, but with all the walking into town that we do, both wore out too quickly. Any recommendations?

What can I do next?

I bought an Evenflo stroller 4.5 years ago for my first child and it's lasted through my second child, now 21 months old. We used an Evenflo PortAbout infant car seat with the 2nd one, and loved it. Still have the car seat if you're interested in a used one, but can't part with the stroller yet since we still use it. You can check out www.evenflo.com, and the newer version of our stroller is the Aura. My husband and I call it "the SUV of strollers" as it's been on-road and off-road and handles bumps smooothly for the child inside.

I live in the city and have a mountian buggy stroller and love it. It is great if you do a lot of walking.

We currently have a Zooper - that I bought new on Ebay - which came with a front bar for fitting a car seat as well as a front bar for use as a regular stroller. We've been really happy with it. Unfortunately, Zooper no longer makes the model we have but I've seen the newer ones in the neighborhood and they look pretty nice.

The only thing to note is that with our model, when you use the car seat front bar the car seat does not lock into place in the way I've seen some others do. But in my experience our Snugride was always snugly (sorry, can think of a better word) in the car seat and I never had any concern that it was going to fall out -- and we did A LOT of walking around the city when our daughter was an infant.

Good luck.

Hi D.,

We have a Mountain Buggy Urban that we love. It is an all around stroller that can handle a lot of walking in the city and even off-road in the parks. It has an attachment that we bought so you can attach your infant seat, but we actually just returned it because we never use it (our little one is not a fan of his car seat so we just lay him out in the stroller in the recline position). I would highly recommend this stroller, but you have to have good trunk space for it. It folds so easily though and is really light, so it is not trouble as long as you have the room to store it.

Hope that helps.

Hi D. -
I did a LOT of research before ending up with a Zooper Boogie. You can attach a car seat to it (though I use a Snap N Go for in/out of the car) and it is super easy to push. Nice big wheels and by far the best sun shade I've ever seen. I looked at several others and tried them all out in person at Galt Toys (900 N Michigan Ave). Zooper also makes a boogie board for older kids to ride on. Only downside is that it is a little big anf heavy (26 lbs). I actually made a spreadsheet with stroller features. If youre interested I can email it to you.
