I have a question about stopping breastfeeding my son. He is now 10 months old. I stopped nursing him about 4 weeks ago and I am wondering when my breasts will stop leaking? I don't want to wear the nursing pads anymore, but I am afraid that I will still leak at work and end up with a wet shirt? Does anyone know when this will stop? I was surprised to find I am still leaking a little after 4 weeks.
I stopped bfing my dd almost 6 mos ago. I still leak. Not enough to leak through a bra, but if I don't have one on I leak all over my shirt. I really wish I could help you...sorry :( I want my breasts to dry up too.
I wish I knew too. Honestly I stopped about 7 months ago and they are still leaking a little. But that's only if I put pressure on them.
First if you are not having any pain, I definately would not start pumping, because you will just start to produce more milk. If you are having pain then I would suggest either pump or bf and then wean yourself(it will take time) I think it took me about 2 mons. or so to wean. I stopped 9 mons. ago and I no longer leak I can't remember when it actually stopped, but everybody is different. So I would wear the lightest pads you could find and don't worry there is light at the end of the tunnel(it WILL stop). Hang in there and good luck.
It really depends. I stopped breastfeeding when my son was 4 months old...
I was still getting some milk when pressure was applied to my breasts up to my son's 18 month birthday.
On the bright side, it should slow down. :-) On the downside, you may have milk in there for a LONG time.

Hello, a pharmacist told me that if you take benedryl, your milk stops completely, I know people who tried it and has worked, Good Luck!
you could just go back to breast feeding--maybe your body is telling you something! My girls were all weaned gradually over a year (starting at 18 months)and never had a problem with leaking.
Hey there...did you wean yourself or did you stop cold turkey? Maybe you need to express a little for a little longer? The breast pumped for a year but 2 months prior to stopping I started weaning myself - extending my pumping times little by little until I was down to once a day and then went to every other day until I was barely producing anything. It was definitely a long weaning process but then when I stopped, I was definitely done...no leaking and more importantly, no pain.
