I woke up with some really bad cramping in my lower abdomen this morning. I was similar to waking up with bladder that's way too full so the whole area cramps up from holding too long. But it didn't get better after i relieved myself. Then it moved up to my upper ab and felt like really, really bad hunger pains. Eating did not help nor make it any worse.

And it's only gotton worse from there. My entire abdomin hurts from my bladder right up to my rib cage. It hurts to touch, it hurts to breath, and it's quite distended as if there is a bunch of gas stuck in there. The pain is contant.

I do not have a gallbladder anymore, am not pregnant, and do not have a fever. I'd LOVE to go home and just curl up in my bed but i have a carpenter there all day. I've slammed 2 cups of hot green tea so far and NOTHING.

WHAT could this be? Any suggestions what I could take to help alleviate the symptoms? I've never felt anything like this in my 42 years. Ugh.

What can I do next?

Because you say you've never felt this way before & it sounds like significant pain, I urge you to go to ED/Urgent Care & get screened for possible kidney stone or appendicitis. Both have similar symptoms & both are potential emergencies (kidney stone if they do s it is blocking the function of the kidneys). Hopefully they will check you out & say all is well you have a stomach bug, but if you were my daughter/sister, I would insist you get evaluated now.
Good luck & please let us know you are ok.

Just saw this today. I had my appendix out 1 1/2 years ago and sounds like it could be appendicitis. I would treat this as an emergency.

Keep an eye on things. This is exactly how my brother described feeling one afternoon. He said the pain then seemed to move to his side after a while. A few hours of feeling miserable and he went to an urgent care clinic. They sent him to the ER. An hour later the doc was removing his appendix. He never got much nausea or a fever. Only a bloat and quite a bit of discomfort.

I don't mean in any way to discount what the other ladies are saying--I agree with them, too--but I know the stomach bug that was going around our neck of the woods this fall and winter involved some really painful stomach stuff. My son, who is not particularly whiney about pain, was doubled over in pain. He never vomited, never got diarrhea, but we eventually took him to the ER because he was crying so bad because his whole ribs-to-gut area hurt so bad. We only figured out it was the stomach flu when I was home with his sister, who threw up 5 times while he was in the ER, and then 3 days later, his brother and parents got it.

Funny you asked this, because I recently went to the ER because I was waking up with sever upper abdominal pain. Doc told me there were really only a few things that are strong enough to wake you up from sleep...and for me it was a Peptic Ulcer. I started taking Prilosec OTC and it felt better within a week (a little better every day). I've also had to cut out some foods to make it heal faster (caffeine, alcohol, greasy and fatty foods). The diet sucks, but hey, I've lost 2 pounds lol.

When I would wake up in the night, changing positions did not help and taking Ibuprofend didn't help (made it worse). Taking an antacid slightly helped..but usually the pain would last 1-2 hours.

Not saying this is what you have, but if the pain feels like a bad cramp and is radiating...then it could be.

If that is what it is then I feel for you...it hurts!!! Good Luck...Hope you're feeling better!
