So i am about 5 wks. preg and have been having some light spotting. i never had this at all with my first daughter so its freaking me out a little. i have had no pain or cramping at all- just spotting for the last 2-3 days. I also have a yeast infection (that i am treating) so im not sure if it could be related to that?? anyone have experience with this?

What can I do next?

I had this at 6 weeks with both my kids. My OB said, it's probably fine, don't worry about it with my first (his usual response--frustrating, but he has always been right). With my second, I did have pain, so I went in and the pain was due to an ovarian cyst, the bleeding due to a subchorionic hemorrage (bleeding where the placenta attaches to the uterus). I was told to take it easy and just wait. Everything ended up fine both times, but I was nervous as I bled lightly for about 5 days with my first and 7 with my second. I hope everything goes smoothly and you are able to relax a little (I know it's hard).

I experienced the same exact thing with my 2nd, and not my 1st, and at 5 weeks. It is most likely implantation bleeding. Take it easy. Rest as much as you can- IF you can with another child! I had a beautiful, healthy son. I am sure you will have a beautiful and healthy baby, too!

I had light bleeding during the first trimester of both my pregnancies. With my first, I was scared all the time and probably went to the doc almost every week for a month or so, which he actually encouraged since it's important to know why you're bleeding that early on. With my second I was slightly less nervous, but I know it's always a little disconcerting to see. We never really figured out exactly what caused it, but he always told me to take it easy exercising, no sex, until bleeding stopped. For me, it lasted both times until I was about 12 or 13 weeks along. After that, totally healthy, low-maintenance pregnancies.

Sometimes there's spotting during pregnancy, especially early on, but that doesn't mean it isn't a sign of potential miscarriage. I'd say to listen to your body and take it easy and inform your healthy care provider next time you go in. I wouldn't do anything that would unduly exert you, like jogging.

Spotting is pretty common, and often is fine (so don't freak out!), but for any type of bleeding during pregnancy its best to check in with your OB/GYN! I've had 3 friends who've had HEAVY bleeding during pregnancy, two of them had to be on a modified bed rest for several weeks, and all three carried their babies to term and they were very healthy. Best to get doctor's orders and follow them!

The other posts are correct that spotting can happen in early pregnancy and we don't always know why.
However ~ do you know your blood type? If you are Rh negative, you need a RhoGam injection.
Also ~ how are you treating your yeast infection? not all medications are safe during pregnancy. There are different treatments used for different stages of pregnancy, so please ask your doctor before you use anything.

First things first - BREATHE!! DO NOT STRESS!! DO NOT PANIC!!!

I know, I know, I know - it's easier said than done. But trust me - as a W. who has been pregnant FIVE times and only has TWO live births - I can tell you the importance of decompressing and staying calm.....Take a DEEP breath. Again. Good. Now...

It's okay - it might be implantation bleeding or spotting.

If it's Brownish red - it's old blood. If it's bright red - it's new blood.

It could be from the yeast infection. Did the Dr prescribe the ointment or did you use OTC stuff? Call your OB and let them know what's going on. They can help make a decision.

Breathe again. Trust in God.

If there's no cramping or heavy bleeding then it's probably either old blood or implantation bleeding, if it were anything more serious you'd have heavier bleeding and definite cramping. Good luck!

It can happen, but during pregnancy the yeast should be treated by your doc. PRegnancy is no the time to self treat anything like that. Call the office and they can check and compare your hgc levels.

Spotting happens frequently and usually doesn't mean anything. Sometimes it's a little implantation bleeding (from the egg implanting in the wall of the uterus) and it just takes a while to work its way out. There are other causes too but they are usually minor. I doubt the yeast infection is related to it - that usually doesn't cause bleeding, just discharge and itching.

Don't worry about the spotting. Yeah, I know - easier said than done. You can mention it to your OB but I doubt they'll even have you come in.

Pregnancies can be very different, so the fact that you didn't have this with your first child doesn't mean anything. A lot of things about this pregnancy could be different - whether it's the amount of morning sickness or fatigue or heartburn or whatever. You're a woman, not a machine, and things may vary for perfectly normal reasons.

Good luck! Try not to put more stress on yourself.

I had that at five weeks with this pregnancy (now 31 weeks). I called my doctor's office right away, and they had me come in to be checked out. It is probably nothing since there is no cramping, but call the doctor anyway. IF it is a miscarriage beginning (although, it doesn't sound like it to me), there is only one known cause that doctors can actually help us with. If you have low progesterone, they can prescribe progesterone to help keep the pregnancy. Just call the office and tell them what's going on. You should go in to get checked out. But, like I said, I had it off and on from five weeks until about six and a half weeks, and she's still growing in there, healthy as can be!
