Hello Moms. Okay, I've been through pregnancy once before - my daughter is 3, so I haven't been pregnant for about 4 years now, and oh how much you forget. I just found out on Sunday that I'm pregnant, and I was at least 2 days late if not a couple more. Today and the day before, I had a slight twinge in my lower abdomen on the side - it was brief and happened only a couple times throughout the day - nothing major. Then today, I saw a small smear of brown discharge when I used the bathroom after work. I'm not bleeding and I'm not tender or in pain. I haven't really felt those crampy twinges in a couple hours, but after the light spotting, I just have to know that this is normal. I keep reading online that the implantation cramps and spotting happen just days after fertilization, but it's been long enough now that I've well missed my period, though it's still VERY early and makes sense. Anyone have advice or experienced this? I remember this slightly with my daughter about the same time frame, and of course everything was okay. Just want to calm my nerves since it's so early. I've been waiting for this for a while, so I'm praying all is well. Thanks in advance for the feedback!!
Bleeding early on in pregnancy, is actually quite normal. So is some cramping. My Dr. always told me, as long as it wasn't bright red, and a large amount (period like flow, or bleeding through a pad in an hour), painful cramping, then not to worry. If you still remain concerned, go ahead and call into a Dr. What you are experiencing sounds very typical, if it makes you feel better!
The cramping is probably the egg implanting in your uterus and also causing the spotting. I had the exact thing with both of my babies. Since you've been pregnant before, you will most likely notice more this time that you maybe ignored the first time. I felt my second child move much earlier than the first..I think because I knew what it felt like from the second child.

It shouldn't be implantation bleeding. For there to be enough hormones to detect pregnancy, implantation should already have occurred. I don't know what could be causing it, but I am 10 weeks along and had some very light spotting off and on for about a week when I was five weeks. I panicked, called, the doctor, and he said nothing was wrong. He did order blood work, and I had three ultrasounds to check on the baby. Everything was fine. If you're worried, which you are, call the doctor and explain what's going on.
I experienced toilet paper spotting with both my pregnancies. With the first one I called the doctor and they did a sonogram to rule out anything. Call your doctor. At least it will put your mind at ease.
Could very well be implantation bleeding. Brown blood shows it's old which is always a good sign in pregnancy. My doctor always said don't think the worse till you have at least constant menstrual like cramps and bleeding that is more like a flow. 50% of all pregnancies that carry to term will bleed at some time.
Sure implantation happens 6 days or more after ovulation but I was ttc for awhile and it can happen as far as 10 days after ovulation and old blood can take a long time to wonder down! And the fact that it is brown shows it is indeed old. I was on a rainbow baby (baby after a miscarriage support group) LOTS of them experienced just this at just this time and are now holding their babies. Ok now they are one but still.
But sounds like a good sign if it has stopped and isn't bright red as if something is newly happening I'd try not to worry so much. I know that is impossible but I still have to say it. ;)
Congratulations Momma! ;) So happy for you. It sounds as though this is the implantation, and the spotting is a result of such. I didn't have anything with my first, but I did with my second. And if you aren't at ease with that being the case, then by all means talk to your doctor about it. Most important that you not be a nervous wreck! ;) Wishing you the best!
