Ear infections can be easy to spot or hard, both my children had chronic ear infections until we had tubes placed in their ears. My oldest was hard to tell if she had on literaly no symptons execpt irratiblity. My youngest pulls adn digs in her ears when she has one and runs a slight fever with them.

As for cream the best things I can reccommed are Jergens which works really well and Aquaphor which is a little pricey but works better than any other. Someone also told me Johnson and Johnson makes a great lotion - it is not in a pink container but rather a yellow I believe.

Babies with ear infections will usually have a temperature that's above normal, may not feed well, will sometimes pull at their ears, seem more fussy, and can have a runny nose or cough. It's very similar to a cold, but in most cases, an ear infection won't get better without medication.
For the rash, try Aquaphor. It's not greasy, is absorbed quickly into the skin, and works well.

In my experience, a dry, red, red bumpy skin is usually a food sensitivity, NOT a full-blown allergy at the this point. I only use grapeseed or oilve oil on my kid's skin. Nothing with parabens on them.

Our 1st son was the only one of our kids who ever got an ear infection and he had 3 of them before I figured out that it was dairy....too much of it. I would treat him with PB8, Herbs for Kids Echinacea/Goldenroot tincture and vitamin A....as well as got his adjusted right away by our chiropractor. His last ear infection was at 3 year old. We stopped the yogurt and he's never had milk.

Our other two have never had yogurt or milk. They have cheese sometimes, but really don't like it that much.

Ear infections are often an overgrowth in yeast, which is why they have a 33% chance of "reoccurance" after an antibiotic as per medical reserach.

Foods that increase the risk of an ear infection are:

grapes - that white film on the outside is a fungus
raisins
dairy
bread
sugar

Ear infections can be hard to spot, until you learn the signs for your baby, because each child is different.

My first child usually ran a fever and was really fussy. My second isn't fussy during the day and doesn't usually have a fever, but he wakes up very fussy at night when he has an ear infection. I think when he changes position in his crib (rolls over) he get some ear pain and it wakes him up. Especially with my 2nd, because he's harder to read, any time he is congested for more than 2 weeks, I take him to have his ears checked.

In my experience, rashes on the face are usually due to a food allergy - dairy for both my kids. When I eliminated dairy, the rash went away. Put a little dairy back in their diet, rash came back. Lotions made no difference, and I tried several. Another sign of this is a diaper rash that comes and goes at the exact same time as the rash on the face. My 1st son outgrew it just before he turned 1. My second child is 10 months and is still allergic. I'm hoping he'll out grow it eventually too.

pulling on the ears or walking around like they are losing their balance. I would also see if he is running a dever. Aquaphor is good but it is greasy too. I would talk to the doctor and see if they can prescribe something for him.

They will usually have a fever with an ear infection, but not every time! My youngest has had two ear infections that were randomly caught during routine doctor's visits when he had no fever. Even little babies will play with or rub the ear that hurts as well and be VERY fussy. Often you can smell a sour smell if you sniff their ear and if it's really bad, you can sometimes see puss or blood in the ear -it will sometimes drain out.

AQUAPHOR!!!! I have extremely sensitive skin as does my youngest and it's great for chapped cheeks! Eucerin burns my skin, but not Aquaphor -and it will really help. Don't buy the Aquaphor sold in the baby section -it's $1.00 higher and absolutely NO different than the Aquaphor sold in the adult section!

When my daughter had an ear infection, she didn't really show any signs. She didn't tug or play with her ears, and her temp was 98. Her only symptoms were a runny nose and not sleeping well. I thought she was just congested.
I like Auquaphor or Aveeno lotion for my baby.

Renew is better than Eucerine.

Babies may cry or pull on their ear when they have an ear infection. Could run a fever but not always.
