My son is finally starting to potty train--yippee!! But, the potty seat we have is terrible. It slides all around and scares my son. I need a recommendation for a potty seat that will fit snugly over our toilet seats. Our toilets are the elongated kind, I think. Any suggestions? TIA!!!
Do they still make the little potty chairs that sit on the floor? My daughter is grown, but this type of equipment really worked well for her because it was her size and she felt comfortable "practicing" and succeeding.
Just a thought.
This is the one I used for a bit with my now 5yo and am using it now for my 20+ pound 5-month-old. It doesn't slide around at all and is comfortable. I have elongated seats. I've seen it (and think I bought it) at Walmart.

I also have the elongated potties and I do home child care in my home so we needed a potty for ALL the ages! I searched online and found a tiolet seat that has seat for adults, seat for children, and then the lid. It is WELL worth the money. It will replace your current toilet lid. Hope this helps, it was a god-send for us.

We did not use a seat with either of our boys, I just sat them facing the back of the toilet. If we were out then I help them to stand to pee and let them hold onto to me sit if needed.
Between my 2 boys...My favorite by for was a seat that you had to actually put/secure it on your toilet seat...It was so easy that I could do it. It was $10 at Right Start.
i got one at walmart that has cars on it and it move a little but not to much. you might want to see if target has one i just googled "elongated toilet training seat" and lots of things came up.
I have always potty trained my nephews and boys i have kept by just facing them backwards on the toilet facing the tank. They can hug the tank and it is less scarey for them.I ask them if they need the waterfall to help them go. Then I turn on the water. They loved it. They would say waterfall, please. And it works.
I saw a seat at Home Depot that has an adult seat and a child's seat in one. You would have to replace your potty seat with this one, but it wouldn't move. Good luck!
The baby bjorn potty seat fits well. Much better than the cheap one I got from Target.
We used two different kinds. The Bjorn potty at TRU that sits on the floor was what we first intorduced our son to potty training wiht. The Baby Bjorn potty seat was what we eventually used on the potty itself. It was the only one that we could find without using mail order taht fit our elongated toilet seat. Got it at TRU...
I highly recommend a product called the Transitions toilet seat manufactured by the Kohler Co. It is like the one Amber posted below and has a seat for adults, children and a lid all on the same seat. The sku is 4732. There are several Kohler distributors in the area that carry it: Ferguson, Morrison, Apex and The Bath and Kitchen Showplace. It replaces your elongated seat and actually looks like a normal toilet seat. The seat for kids also works well for elderly users.
we have used the baby bjorn potty seat. it has rubber around the bottom to prevent movement and it has an adjustment to fit any size toilet. it fits better on an elongated seat.

sitting backward on the toilet works, also helps because if you are out and do not have a potty seat with you they are use to going that way.
We went through 3 of them before we found one that worked right the 1st problem was that the first one of them didn't have a "shield" that went up high enough. The second one was ultra cushioned and it cracked. The one we have now is the one with "Cars" characters from Target, the shield goes up high enough and we put some stick on grips on it to keep it from sliding around though it was pretty secure.
If I were to do it over I'd buy one with the built in seat for the toilet in his bathroom. He never liked the little potty chair but the seat snaps on the regular toilet seat (luckily it works as a great stool!) However, he can't take it off so being a boy he'll just stand at the toilet and aim for the little gap/hole between the seat and the snap on seat LOL.
Try Baby Bjorn potty seats. They fit great on our toilets, and my daughter has not slipped at all. Very easy to take on and off by moving the dial underneath seat.
