My 13 year old has not yet had the symptoms and she has not yet been to an OBYN. I suppose if she has her period already the OBYN is where you would start, otherwise I'd call her pediatrician to find out if it is time. If she is uncomfortable, a diagnosis might put you both at ease however Increasing yogurt usually stops a yest infection before it gets out of hand...so trying that first is less invasive.

I would call the nurse at your obgyn office.. Ask advice.. And talk to your dd before you take her in so she knows what to expect.. Also at that age for sure I would want a woman obgyn.

Hi G.. At her age, you should start with her regular doctor, whether that's a pediatrician or a family practice physician. Your doctor can refer her to a gynecologist if need be.

It could be Bacterial Vaginosis. The most common symptom is a fishy, or smelly discharge. I would take her to her pediatrician, or call the nurse and ask them what you should do. A yeast infection usually has a white cottage cheese type of discharge, itching, burning.

Smelly discharge, is not usually a good thing. I would take her in.

Yes, because you aren't supposed to have a smelly discharge. Could be BV (bacterial vaginosis, very common), which usually doesn't present with symptoms besides a smelly discharge.
