Skin Problem - Irving,TX
I have had a chronic skin condition for quite a number of years with lows and highs. There are excessive spots and discoloration around my mouth with little bumps. My skin has become very sensitive lately. I do not apply any cosmetics and use Cetaphil and Neutrogena Sunscreen.
The question is this problem has increased a lot after the birth of my son 2 years ago. I look as though I have aged a lot in these 2 years.
Does anyone suffer from the same problem? Can you refer a good dermatalogist? My family practitioner thinks that using expensive creams from Estee Lauder etc should solve the problem. But I am scared to go by the reccomendation of a sales lady. I have zero knowledge of cosmetics and creams. My self confidence regarding my appearance is at an all time low.

You might want to try Arbonne's Baby Care line. It is super mild and benefical for not only babis, but for extremely sensitive skin. If you would like some samples or more about the products, i will be more than happy to share them!
Here is a bit about Arbonne's products::
Arbonne is an exceptional company because our premium skin care products are formulated in Switzerland with the highest standards at the Arbonne Institute of Research and Development (AIRD) in Switzerland, and made in the U.S.A. We do not use cheap fillers or compromise on ingredients. Most personal care products and department store lines contain petrochemical based ingredients like mineral oil, petroleum, petrolatum, and SD alcohol, which have NO BENEFIT TO YOUR SKIN.
By contrast, Arbonne uses no fillers, nor any acetone, lanolin (sheep skin excretion), collagen, dyes, perfumes, human or animal by products. Rather, Arbonne products are botanically based and proven to be pure, safe, and beneficial. Because there are no fillers, our products are highly concentrated, meaning you use small amounts thereby receiving excellent value for unsurpassed quality. Your results will be phenomenal. Arbonne International "works" for everyone...

I don't recommend any wonder creams or expensive products. They can only help so much.
I would see a drematologist and they can recomend proper products. Prescription face products have the right and concentrated amount of salycic acid and other ingrediants that these high end prodcts claim to have, however they are not able to have as effective a quantity so they have a very low dose, and people with chronic or actual skin conditions need prescription medication.
(much like over the counter meds and prescription meds).

My boys have extremely sensitive skin. We tried so many things, including prescription creams, and nothing worked. It wasn't until we began using products without formaldehyde, chlorine, ammonia, or phosphates that their skin cleared up. I can absolutely vouch for the Nicole Miller skin care line. It is fantastic! I know several moms who also have sensitive skin and they have used other product lines, including ones already mentioned, and their skin still broke out! It wasn't until they eliminated those chemicals and included melaleuca (tea tree) oil in the products they were using that their skin became clear. Email me if you have any questions! ____@____.com

I'm glad to see you have several responces already! I'm a Mary Kay consultant and had several skin issues after my baby. Once your body goes from pregnancy glow back to normal, it never really reaches normal... Mine was simply tons of acne but I was able to work through it with the Mary Kay skin care, and consultants.
I've since joined and built my own business because it did work so well and I wanted the discount! :o)
I would love to show you what we have, get some other opinions and see what we could come up for you! Its all backed with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and there are tons of options within the Mary Kay product line.
Lancome is one of our closest competitors but we've still been able to maintain the #1 position in skin care for years on end now!
Let me know what you think! All the best, either way!

YES!! I had what sounds like the EXACT same problem. It's called perioral dermatitis, and it flares up when you use anything containing SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or Sodium Laureth Sulfate). The bad news is that it's in EVERYTHING! I had to change shampoo, toothpaste, foundation, soap, DO NOT USE FACEWASH, and anything that lathers contains SLS. I used a toothpaste I found online called Squiggle, which is for that and canker sores. My dentist okayed it. I only used it for about a week when it started going away. I also had a cream (Nortate or Noritate) that was perscribed to me that seemed to help.
My problem afterwards - because believe me my self confidence was kaput after that whole thing - was that I started getting pimples on my chin and around my lips because I couldn't use facewash. So I got rid of the rash and ended up with pimples. I know someone already said it, but the Arbonne stuff works. I use the entire RE9 line because their face wash doesn't contain SLS. Actually nothing they have contains SLS except for one bath product that doesn't go on your face. It sold me on the product so much that I am now a consultant. I know Stacy already got to you, and I don't want to take any business from her, but if you have any more questions about that skin problem, I would be more than happy to talk to you about it because I understand how your self confidence is low. I didn't want anybody to talk to me because of it. I always looked down to avoid eye contact. I even had a student blurt something out about it in the middle of my teaching, which didn't help!
I'm not a dr and haven't seen you, but it sounds so much like what I just went through in the winter. I would suggest not spending money on those Estee Lauder creams unless you know what's in them. I'm telling you from experience what did and didn't work for me. Also, check all of your soaps and shampoo, etc. . .SLS is usually the second or third ingredient. Herbal Essences doesn't have it in there. Good luck, and email me anytime ____@____.com if you have any other concerns.

I see that you have received more than one response regarding Arbonne products. I would love to get you some samples of the ABC (baby-line) or the Arbonne RE9 kit just to try for a few days. The samples (ABC) I can mail you. The RE9 kit I have and you can use it for a few days and then we can meet and you can let me know what you think.
I would love to give you an opportunity to try a product prior to purchasing. In my line of business I have found hundreds of women who have benefitted from the Arbonne products and would love to work with you with the products to find your match before you spend money on anything.
Best of luck to you!
