I am looking to possibly purchase a side-by-side stroller for my 2 year old (dd) and 3 year old (ds). Can anyone give me any recommendations and what I can get the most of of my money. I am looking to use the stroller for the next year or so. Let me know if I should look into another type of stroller for toddlers.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

It appears that TANDEMS are winning!!! I will be purchasing a tandem stroller this weekend. Thanks to ALL the moms that helped me make my decision. May the fighting began between my children... <sigh>

I agree with the other moms..tandem is the way to go. MUCH easier to maneuver if you are out and about going to stores. With a side by side it is VERY difficult to even get through a door never mind going through the store itself because the stroller is so wide and the isles small. That was my experience when I needed a double stroller and I was trying to decide tandem or side by side..........tandem won hands down. Good luck!

We purchased the Jeep side by side double stroller. It only cost us $80, fits really well through doorways, isn't huge and bulky and reclines easily when one falls asleep. The only problem I see with it is it isn't quite the quality of the more expensive ones. We've been using ours for about 18 months now and a hinge at the back is starting to look weak.

I don't have any specific recommendation on strollers, but I REALLY recommend looking on Craig's List once you have identified the one you want. You can get some amazing deals and save yourself a ton of money. Of course, whenever buying used you need to be cautious, check on recalls for the particular model etc... but it's amazing how many people get given strollers as gifts, or find they just don't use them, and then sell them at a hugely discounted price. For example, I recently bought a BOB Jogger that had been used just once and saved 30% off the price of a new one.

I had posted on the other double stroller post. I wanted to tell you the same thing. I really watched people struggle with the side to side strollers. They do not make a lot of isles wide enough. One mom said they just don't get her buisness... it is not always that easy. I would think about going with the "tandem" i guess it is called. That was the one i had and it worked well. Also, the one mom said that she wanted her kids to be able to interact....wouldn't that include fight and waking each other if napping...lol!!!

Hi D. ~ I have to agree, aisles are barely wide enough in some stores for a shopping cart let alone a side by side! I wish they would think of those who shop most in their stores. I personally liked the tandem stroller, some of them even have a reversible seat so the children can interact with each other. Good luck ~ J.

i have a peg perego side by side, its totally worth the money. i like it because its lightweight, folds flat, fits through regular size doorways, seats recline seperatly, great storage underneath, easy to push and manuever. i have a tandem and for me it was easier to push the side by side. check ebay or craigs list for great buys.hope this helps

The Combi Twin Savvy LX is great. Light weight (relatively speaking) and fits through any space where a wheelchair can fit. Storage is limited. I like that my kids can interact with one another. My girls are 2 yr/8 mos and 9 mos. Check out www.albeebaby.com for great prices on last year's models. (I'm fortunate that the youngest is too young to fight with her older sister and her older sister lets her nap. That might not be the case with a 2 and 3 year old.)

A bit pricey but worth it - the Bumbleride Indie Twin is a great stroller. It turns on a dime, has ample storage space, both seats recline independently, full coverage visors... I love mine! I also know someone who sells them if you are interested I can give you her information and maybe you can arrange to see one in person. Send me a message.

I second the "craig's list" suggestion. There are a lot of double stollers on there. I picked up a front/back one for $30. I like it better than a side-by-side for sidewalks, malls, doorways, etc. Not as much for elevators, though. So I guess it kinda depends on where you are going to use it the most...
