Shark Steam Mop & the "Tobi" Steam Iron

I too got sucked in to the infomercial and I bought the Tobi steam iron. I like it a lot. Much better than steaming my clothes in the shower. My only issue is that you have to pull on the clothes to run the steam iron across the fabric and the bottom is hard to steam - this may just be operator ignorance, as is the fact that I've gotten burned (not badly) by the thing trying to stretch fabric in the folds and steam the area. Aside from a learning curve on how to best handle the thing, it is great. I've started using a clothes pin to hold the fabric while I steam and avoid hurting myself. I have put it to a lot of use on clothes, my bed, tableclothes and curtains since I got it a couple of weeks ago. It was rather expensive, but worth it to me. I used to run the shower for 5 - 10 minutes to steam out wrinkles (I cannot stand using irons) and the cost of the water had to be enormous, so it will pay for itself eventually. My husband takes the travel steam iron out of town for business. He seems to like his, also.

WOW! I am so glad you asked this! I want one so badly, but was afraid of spending the $$$. I didn't know anyone who had one. Now I am more sure that I will save up for it, lol! Thanks.

Hi M.. I found that the mop leaves a white on my dark ceramic tiles. I got the Tobi for christmas. Believe it or not, I have not opened the box yet. D.

I bought the Bissell Steam mop and I love it. It worked so well and no chemicals. The tile floor seems to stay cleaner after use too compared to the Swiffer or other ways that I have mopped. One of my best investments I have made for my home. Have I mentioned no chemicals? It will pay for itself with your satisfaction.

I have one. It is great for tile and windows too. But, I'm not sure it is safe for hardwood. I have hardwood and I have used it on the hardwood. But, I stopped! The steam is so hot that I think it can cause damage. You have to constantly be moving with it and not stop or it will harm your hardwood. Also, the steam discolored the bottom of my cabinets in my new kitchen. It is HOT! We built a new house 2 1/2 yrs ago and felt this would be a quick answer to all my hardwood and tile. Now, I never use it at all.

I have the steam mop and I love it! The floor is dry almost immediatly, it cleans wood, tile and linoloeum and is so easy!

I, too got sucked in to the infomercial while up at night with my newborn. I ended up finding one at Bed, Bath, & Beyond & went ahead & bought it. Luckily, I had one of the 20% off coupons...so it was a much better deal.
The thing is GREAT! I was sceptical at first...but it is super-easy to use! It heats the water up quickly, & really cleans the floors. It is so much easier than the way we used to have to clean our floors.

I haven't used the steam mop, but I have bought/used a few different shark products and was not impressed. The little vaccuum I had was the worst, though. I only used it on the stairs b/c it was small, but it took a lot of energy, nonetheless, b/c it didn't work well to pick up anything! Maybe they've improved on their products since I tried them in 2003, good luck. Now, I usually use a Swiffer, but instead of buying the pads, I usually use a plain wet washcloth with the cleaning solution and I know they have cleaning solutions for wood floors specifically. that works well for me. For heavy duty, I usually just use my Hoover carpet cleaner on the kitchen/bathroom floors; it cleanses, buffs, and rinses and I can use it on the carpets, too. :)

I have owned the steam mop for 4 months now and just love it. Very easy to use and leaves the floor sticky free. It comes with two pads and I wish I had a few more just for the fact I don't do laundry as much as I mop, but they do give you that option when you first order.

I love it!!! I just got one at Linens and Things this weekend ($79.00 plus 20% coupon). I finally feel like the floors were cleaned. I did go over some high traffic area a few times just because it needed it. The only down sides is the cord is long but not long enough and you keep having to move it and you have to re-fill the tank with water but it wasn't that bad. It heats up pretty quickly and the tank of water goes pretty far. I probably used 4 tanks to do my whole downstairs (hardwoods - about 1000 sq ft.).

I don't know anything about the iron as I keep ironing to a minimum.

I have the shark steam mop and LOVe it. I would highly recommend it. Also, you can buy it at Linens & Things and Bed, Bath & Beyond. That will save you some shipping. Linens and Things has it on sale right now for $80...I think it was originally $90.

I saw the infomercial a while ago too and just bought a Shark Steam Mop last week and used it for the first time today. I am moving into a new house and wanted to clean all the floors before we moved in any furniture. The floors are all hardwood and vinyl. The floor didn't look very dirty but that mop picked up everything. I was so impressed with it. I'm washing the pads now just so I can finish the house because the steamer picked up so much dirt. The floor was dry almost immediately which was great for my hardwood. So far I would highly recommend this product. And by the way, Linens N Things and Bed Bath and Beyond both sell the mop for the same price as on TV, so if you go there you don't have the pay shipping prices, and if you have one of those 20% coupons from bb&b you can get a great deal.
