I would like my son to get seperate MMR shots. I live in the LA area, but would be willing to drive to Orange County or San Diego county if necessary. Do you know any pediatricians that offer these seperately?

Hi W.,
I too am looking for separate MMR shots and have asked friends and 3 different pediatricians and have gotten the same response from all, bottom line is that MERK, the only manufacturers of the vaccine, no longer make the separate vaccines and only offer the cocktail. MERK might consider making the separate ones again in 2011. if you do find a pediatrician who does offer them separate could you please pass that info on to me at ____@____.com. Thanks and good luck :)

Hi W.: These are a list of Vaccine-Friendly doctors in the United States (listed by state). The MMR will not be available separately until 2011, but at least you can see one of these practitioners to help you decide what is right for you.

Good luck! (I'd wait until your child is AT LEAST 3 or 4 to give their little immune systems an upper hand - but that's just me.

This could be wrong, so definitely look into it -- but I've been told by more than one pediatrician that, currently, separate shots are not available at all (something about shortage of supply from the producer). I'm in the same boat you are - I don't want my son getting the combined MMR at 12 months. I hope my info is wrong, or that you can find a doctor that still has some supply on hand.

Good luck!

The Dr. Sears website says that Merck plans to resume production of separate vaccines in 2011.

The website also has a section on vaccine friendly doctors.

I also wanted to separate the shots. I was able
to get one shot separate and then the drug company Merek
decided to stop making them separately. I did call Merek at the time
requesting them to continue making the MMR separate
but last I heard you are unable to get this. A great
web site that has all the most updated info on
vaccinations is www.askdrsears.com. At this time I
will wait till I can get the shot the way I feel is
most safe for my kids. Let me know if you do find a
Dr. I would be curious. Good Luck
