Seeking Recommendations for a Good Humidifier

I would recommend 1 hour heating and air conditioning to come check your humidifier. We woke up this am and it was 58 degrees in our house. I called One Hour at 9:30. They were here by 10:15, and my heat was fixed by 11 am. They have a contract where you pay to have your units serviced in fall and spring and then you get a reduced price for any repairs that may come up. You also get priority service. We've had three different techs and they have all been so professional and nice. Drug-tested and screened. Never waited longer than 45 mins. for them to come. Your humidifier might just need adjusted and that may elimiate you needing to buy a new one. Good luck! Hopefully it's cheaper than the $500 circuit board we purchased today!

We used a few different humidifers and weren't happy with them, but we eventually got a Crane humidifier (cool mist) for our son's room and we've really liked it. Its the kind that looks like different animals (cow, frog, pig, etc), sold at Target, Babies R Us, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, etc. It is silent, which is nice. We've actually started using one in our room as we have our twin babies in our room, and I am thinking I'll buy a 3rd once the babies move to their own room so we can keep one in our room (I only wish I could find the same type of model, but that is NOT an animal). I would also recommend the filter that you can buy to filter the water. Its about $10 and I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond. They are pretty easy to clean, too.

I don't think the ones attached to the HVAC do that great of a job when it is really really dry in the winter so we have one in each bedroom. Recently the one in ours broke so we had to buy a new one. The one we got is a little on the loud side but after a week or so I got used to it. I think it was $45/$50 at Walmart and I believe it is made by Vicks. I really like the setting options on it...you can choose speed as well as humidity level and it turns on only as needed. I like the turning on as needed part the most b/c I feel like we are keeping a better balance rather than just running it all the time like in the past. Also, if you have a cold and need to, you can add vapor stuff to it for a better night's sleep. The filter for it lasts longer than others and is cheaper too.

I don't have any recommendations for a humidifier, I am in the same boat and looking forward to any responses you get.

As for the ear infection monitor, I have to say, I was also not impressed!

But the "snot sucker", as we call it in our house, works great! That is if you can get them to hold still for it! My son has no problem with it, it plays music which helps, but a co-worker of mine has a son about the same age, 2.5, and he is terrified of it.
