Seeking Quality Washing Machine Recommendations

My washing machine is on the blink and now I'm in the market to buy a new one. I need some recommendations please.

I have a modern Whirlpool washer...all buttons...no dials...which means it has an electronic board. Well, the third year we had it, it broke. Now it is six years old and is dead. The motor froze up. I've been told by a number of repairmen NOT to buy another machine with the electric board as they get calls all the time with these machines. They recommend...GET THE OLD FASHION KIND WITH THE TURN KNOB.

Anyway, does anyone have a washer they've used for a long time with no problems? What kind is it?

Thanks in advance.

Deborah

Go to Sears and get yourself a good ol' Kenmore. They last forever. And for a few extra bucks, you can get Sears' extended warranty. (I think its 5 years?)These generally are your "no frill" washers.
Just My Opinion!!

My Mom has the same one that she bought when I was in high school. (I'm 37)

SO..I recently reserched washer and dryers because we were in the market this tax season. I knew I wanted the new HE because it saves energy and many electric companies will give a discount for energy star appliances.

I didn't want to get one with all the digital stuff for the same reason as you just experienced though, more elctronics means more things to go wrong. Plus it increases the cost and while I wanted to go HE, I also wanted to save my nickels and dimes ;-)

I ended up with Kenmore Tumble Action Washer. It has 3.5 cubic feet of space (considered a super capacity) and more settings than I ever hoped for. I got the matching dryer (Kenmore Model 88052) We also got the pedestal drawers for them and it was very affordable for all of it at $1859.00 including installation. The best part was that We got over $300 back in rebates from Sears!!!!

Our are the front loading type but as our oldest daughter (at 10 yo) is required to do her own laundry) we needed something she didn't have to climb on top of to get the clothes in and out of.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck!

I thought they were phasing out all of the turn knob washing machines because they used too much water and the detergent they needed was bad for the enviroment. Thats what my husband and I where told when we went and bought our new set. Anyways we have an LG TROM and it is AWESOME!! We also got a STEAL OF A DEAL because we gotit at GIANT DISCOUNT APPLIANCES in Round Rock,TX,behind FUDDRUCKERS on 35. $900.00 for each originally 1,900.00 each brand new in the box because the colors didn't match. However, you can buy matching face plates for them at Lowes for an extra $100.00 and nobody knows the difference!!

I just wanted to say that I HATE my Kenmore front loaders. We purchased using consumer report recommendations and bought the top of the line spending about $2000 and have already had service repairs three times(different problem each time) on just the washing machine and they are only two years old. Plus you have to completely wipe down the inside of your front loading washer after using it or you cloths will have a mildew smell. Happy hunting.

Whirlpool has always been a winner in my book. The ones with the turn knobs to be exact.
