Hi,
I am looking for play groups/support system for myself and my 3-year-old autistic son. I want him to have exposure to children with his same issues and typical children as well for socialization. I also would love to network/build friendships with other mom's in my situation and/or with other mom's that just want to bond over our children!

What can I do next?

Hi, my name is Crystal. I live in the North Plainfield area, and have two boys of my own...4 years old and 2 years old. We are always looking to make new friends, and would love to start a play group with you and your children. You are not too far...maybe we could meet up one day...if not we could chat on the phone about M. things.

Look forward to chating with you.

Hi A.-

I live in Riverside and have a 3 year old son and an almost 7 month daughter. I am also an older mom and work part-time. We too are looking for playdates on my days off. It is hard to meet new people at this age and my husband keeps telling me to wait until the kids are in school. Well, that is too far away.

Maybe we can speak on the phone and see if our situations are compatible.

A.,

I do admire you for working part time and raising two special needs children. I am an older mom myself, with an 18-month-old daughter that I stay home with, while I work on my children's gift website, http://www.peanutspalace.com/.

I just wanted to suggest to you Discovery Toys. Their toys are great for autistic children and each toy is categorized by the area of difficulty it helps to develop. There is also alot of great information on their website under "What's Hot". I am actually a Consultant with them, so please go to http://www.discoverytoyslink.com/esuite/home/judidziwak
and check it out.

I have also been in contact with the person who runs the website http://www.bluepuzzlepiece.com/, which is a local autism support group.

Hope this helps!

Try www,meetup.com

I found a special needs meet up in the Evanston/Skokie area not too long ago. Also, there are lots of support/playgroups for autism. The awareness for Autism has risin so much in the past year!

My three year old autistic daughter and I are planning on attending the North Side Parents of Children with Autism Support Group. It's meeting on 4/19 at Coonley School, 4046 N. Leavitt Street from 1 - 3:00pm. Call Yvonne Flores at ###-###-#### to RSVP, especially if you need child care.

I got the flyer from my kiddo's Special Ed teacher. Options for parent support groups, and summer camps and programs for ASD children will be discussed.

Hope this helps!
