Seeking Pediatrician Who Will Administer MMR Shot as Separate Doses

I am seeking a pediatrician who is willing to administer the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine as separate doses. My current ped administers the vaccine in the traditional method and will not separate the dose. Has anyone requested this from their ped or know of a ped who is willing to separate the dose? I live in Oviedo but am willing to travel around Central Florida to find a good ped who is willing to do this.

Thanks so much!

So What Happened?

Thanks to all for your responses. I will call the doctors you all recommended and see about making consultative appointments. I was asked why I am seeking MMR separate doses. Although vaccines are now mercury-free, there is still a great deal of talk among parents whose children have autism regarding this MMR shot being the "trigger" that led to their children developing the disorder. I was a special education teacher for 9 years and I know that no one knows what causes the majority of cognitive and emotional disorders out there (learning disabilities, emotional handicaps, autism, etc) and I feel that if there is a majority of parents whose children have a disorder such as autism and they feel that this shot was the trigger, then why not exercise caution when its time to administer this shot to my son? (By the way, boys are much more likely to develop disorders of any kind than girls). So, I want my son to be protected and have the necessary vaccines but I do not want this live vaccine given to him in the large dose that is now common practice. It seems that having it broken up is the safer way to go.

I would also be interested in getting this info. There is not a good response by pediatricians, even good ones, concerning this issue.

I think Dr. Franz is the only doctor in the area who will separate them out for you. She's in downtown Orlando. Here's her website: http://www.franzcenter.com/

S.,
I do not know of a ped who will do this for you. I am writing to encourage you to keep up the search as pumping mercury laden (thermisol) into our small children, through vacines that are forced on us by either coercion or law, is a serious thing. Certainly we do not want the doses to be concentrated.
I am on many health sites, and I have run across alternatives that are safer, but I do not know them offhand. Perhaps you can search such sites as Mercola.com or the Health Ranger.
I, as a grandmother, appreciate seeing young mothers who truly search out what is best for their little ones. I applaud you.

I don't know if my ped does. I haven't had to ask yet as I am holding off/spreading out my baby girls shots. His name is Joe Cannizzaro. Don't know if I got the spelling right, but he is on the more natural/holistic side of things. He believes in kids being outdoors, fresh air and what you eat keeping you healthy. The phone number is ###-###-####. Also, website http://www.PediatriciansCareUnit.com. He is located in Longwood off of Wekiva Springs Rd & 434. I really like him and know a lot of other people that go to him.
Good luck and let me know what you find out. I would like to know for future reference.
Thanks!

I've heard Dr. Franz is great! I was curious why you personally would like seperate doses? Are you on a delayed schedule and/or skipping other vaccinations?

I had a difficult time at the Seminole Health Department just this morning. And we're in the range of the MMR vaccine.

We just moved here & I found Dr. Ramey (http://www.integrativepeds.net) via a natural living website. She's in Oviedo & is just amazing! Very open to natural medicine (but definitely conventionally trained doctor, the best of both worlds in my opinion). & she's completely willing to follow your lead on what you want with vaccinations.

Hi S.,

I use Dr. Joseph Cannizzaro. He is on Wekiva Springs Road in Longwood. He is a phenomenal pediatrician and is integrative as well. I have not given my children any vaccines as of yet. I asked him if he can do them seperately if/when I decide about the vaccines and he said he could. His number is ###-###-####. He is opening an integrative medical center in the future. Currently he brings in a homeopathic doctor into his office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He is a believer that nutrition is the best "medicine" and is a promoter of living and eating healthily. He is not quick to prescribe antibiotics like other doctors. I am very happy with him and recommend him to everyone who will listen! :)

Have not done that with my ped, but he is a great guy. Dr. Chaban over in Apopka, ###-###-####. I delayed giving my sons shots, until they were older and dr. office was perfectly okay with that. My boys had all their shots but after age 2-3. Dr. Pedrosa, who is now down in South Orlando, was very good as well with stuff like this. I have heard great things about Dr. Franz, as well although I never went to her.
