My son is due the beginning of May and I'm trying to locate a pediatrician in Castro Valley or Pleasanton. If anyone out there has any recommendations, I would love to hear them! Thank you!

Hi There! I take my 15 month old daughter to Dr. Debra Weiss-Ishai in Pleasanton. She works in the Bayside Ped. practice right off Stoneridge. Her number is ###-###-####.

I like her style- She interacts well with the parents and kids alike. My daughter was a premie and Dr Weiss has been on top of any health issue that has crept up and referred us on to specialists (which I prefer to the "wait and see" method). I interviewed her before my daughter came home from the ICN and I know she's available for consultations with expectant parents. Good luck!

Hi G., both my kids 3 yrs and 2 months see Dr. Ruiz & Dr. Trujillo at San Ramon Pediatrics on Porter Dr. I've also liked the other Drs at the practice whenever they weren't available. Nurses call you right back and they can get you in same day too. My Mom is a peds RN, so I researched before I selected this group. Hope not too far from you. If so, then call and ask them to suggest one closer to you.

Dr. Donald Selcer ###-###-#### was great with our kids. He's in Castro Valley. We'd still be there if we lived closer.

I am a mother of 2 girls (5 & 9), and their doctor is Dr. Vance at Castro Valley Pediatrics. The office is great...I think there are 6 doctors. You are assigned to one doctor but if your child is sick you can go in and see any of them. They also are open on Sat. which is great. Children always seem to get sick when the weekend comes.

Good Luck.

Hi G.,

I want to jump on the support for San Ramon Valley Primary Care (http://www.srvpc.com/)
My daughter has seen Dr Obrinsky since she was born, and we couldn't be happier. I chose them because they had privileges at John Muir, where I delivered, and my OB recommended the group. Dr Obrinsky was on duty that week and was just awesome with my daughter. (He got bonus points for changing a dirty diaper) He's great with my daughter, and has been wonderful with all my new mom questions. What impresses me with Dr Obrinsky is his focus on the development of my daughter, and me as a mom. I never feel rushed, he does the check up, talks about things we should focus on until our next visit (whether it was tummy time, introducing rice cereal, etc..), and then allows me to ask questions. He doesn't end the visit until I am done. This is huge for me. I don't want to feel rushed with my daughter, and I want to talk to someone who really knows what he's talking about. (helps that he's a father of three, so it comes with personal experience as well)
As you have seen from other postings, I think all pediatricians with this group are great. We saw Dr Trotter once, and he's excellent as well. They have their own advice nurse, who is extremely helpful.
The group has "meet and greet" nights, so you can interview the pediatricians before you choose. We had planned to go, but it was the same night I went into labor!
Check out their website and read about the doctors. I was impressed with all the doctors education as well as their continued work as professors at UCSF medical school. My husband had a pretty significant surgery through UCSF, where I learned just how impressive their medical program is. I now only choose doctors with involvement with UCSF. Outside of their education, I think you'll find that San Ramon Valley Primary Care is such a positive environment.
Congratulation, and all the best to you and your son!

Hi G.,
My daughter goes to Dr. Cynthia Quan of Bayside Pediatrics. We love her! My cousins' kids and my best friend's son also go to Dr. Quan.

Her office is at 5720 Stoneridge Mall Rd. Ste. 240 in Pleasanton, ###-###-####. We met with her and "interviewed" her before our daughter was born. I recommend doing that.

They've also been really helpful when we've had medical concerns after-hours. They always have an on-call nurse to answer your questions.

Good luck!

It may be a little bit further of a drive, but it is so worth it, San Ramon Valley Primary Care. It is a phenomenal practice off of Crow Canyon and the doctors and nurses are fabulous. We have Dr. Trujillo as our primary, but Dr. Trotter and Dr. Ruiz are both great. Worth checking out, all of the pediatricians there are considered all stars by many other professionals in the field. You can't go wrong!

Congrats!

I have a 16 month old boy and am expecting a girl in April. My son use to go to Dr John Nackley in Castro Valley. He's a great pediatrician and I highly recommend him. If I didn't change insurance I would still be going to him.

I have a 4 month old daughter. I had her at Valley Care in Pleasanton. They were fabulous - nurses, Dr's, lactation consultants - great!
As for a pediatrician - we go to LP (Livermore/Pleasanton) Pediatrics. They are at Valley Care. I see Dr. Liekam - she's so wonderful! Actually all but one of the Dr's at LP are great in my experience. I forget the woman's name, but I saw a woman there that was middle eastern and she was awful (super cold - terrible bedside manner.) So I just try to stick w/ Dr. Leikam.
Hope that helps :)

I highly recommend Dr. Vance and Castro Valley Pediatrics. I have been to a couple of pediatricians and she is the best. I also want to recommend that you find a pediatrician close to home. It's just easier when you have a sick child to have that convenience.

http://www.livermorepleasantonpeds.com/. I can't say enough good things about Pleasanton-Livermore pediatrics. They have 2 locations about 10 doctors and are always avaliable and very helpful!! I also have a few friends that go to them and I have never heard anything bad about them. Good luck!
