Hello,
I moved to Oregon a couple of years ago from Honolulu, HI and am relatively new in town. I am 32 weeks pregnant and am looking for any interesting, hip mommy groups in the Beaverton area.

Hi A.!
Welcome to Oregon! There are quite a few mom meetup groups on meetup.com. There are some general ones:
Washington County Moms Meetup: http://moms.meetup.com/1568/
Portland Hip Mamas: http://hipmama.meetup.com/176/
Portland Metro Mamas: http://moms.meetup.com/2683/
The Hillsboro Moms Meetup: http://moms.meetup.com/2776/

They have meetups kind of all over, and they're fun groups. There are some more specific ones as well:
NW Babywearing and Attachment Parenting: http://attachmentparenting.meetup.com/451/
Portland Attachment Parenting Group: http://attachmentparenting.meetup.com/124/

If you are interested in Green Parenting as well, there is a really great and active parenting group that has it's own website. http://www.portlandgreenparenting.com

Congratulations on your first baby! I know it's excited and scary at the same time. It's so great, though! My daughter is 17 months now, and it's been a trip! I wish that I knew all the stuff I know now before she was born, but that's how it goes! Feel free to email me if you have any questions about the groups or want to hang out! :)

Depending on where in Beaverton you live, there is a North Beaverton MOMS Club and a South Beaverton MOMS Club. Both contact email addresses can be found on this website.

Hi A.,

Here is a link to a group of 75 members that meet and it includes children from infant to 5 years old. Good luck! The posting says: "This group is for all of us moms that want to get out and meet other adults (for much needed adult conversation) and good friends for our little ones to play with. This is a great group to meet other moms for advice, friendship and lasting bonds for our children! We have in home playdates, outings to the zoo, mall, parks, OMSI. Any fun place for kids that you can think of. This group has a varied range of ages. From newborns to 5 year olds. We try and have activities that are good for all these age groups. Please let me know if you have any suggestions."

One way to find a playgroup is to go to the new mom group that St. Vincent offers. You can go when your baby is anywhere from 0-6 months old and when you "graduate" from the group you will end up with a group of moms who have kids your age. My daughter just turned 4 and we are still a part of the group we met there. Good luck with the next adventure in your life!

Hi A.! I just found this website, so I know your request was a while ago. But I wanted to let you know that the Norht Beaverton MOMS Club is here to support SAHM's in many ways! For some reason, our membership email hasn't been working the last year (and no one figured it out until recently). I am wrking on getting things up and running again. You can contact me for membership info, or just to find out more about our club! Email ____@____.com, this email is now working again! ;-) I hope to hear from you, or any other moms in the North Beaverton/Bethany area!

Providence has a wonderful new moms group that they offer for free if you deliver at a Providence hospital. (If not, there is a small fee.) I joined it when my first was born almost 5 years ago, and from there we were given the chance to form smaller play groups. The play group I got connected with is wonderful, and I now consider the other 9 mommies in my group as my dearest friends. We're still getting together with our kids a couple of times a month, and the mommies go away for a weekend together twice a year. It's been a life-saver for me!

Hi A.,
I am also pregnant (almost 38 weeks), with my 2nd daughter-- we belong to several meetup playgroup groups which offer lots of different activities to go to. Go to meetup.com and type in your area and playgroups and it will list all that are available. There are some in Beaverton, greater Washington County, Hillsboro, etc.
Since our babies are due about the same time-- I'd love to keep in touch if you'd like! I am also in Beaverton..

Good Luck!
R.
